Hi,
I have a question about putting in new mods. If I am going to add a new mod, do I need to 'take a snapshot of the game' in the Generic Mod Enabler each time? thanks, JB |

Not sure if this would screw up the file system of the game, but I would advise to keep a backup folder of the game files before attempting anything out of the ordinary. If you have saves, also backup the SH4 folder in the Documents folder. One may never know when the game will turn haywire....

It is your prerogative to take a snapshot of your game files if you so desire. I cannot say if it is common practice among the members but I myself have never done so. I have also (so far) never suffered any ill effects from this practice. I've run many different mods over many careers and haven't had any problems so far. If you click on the JSGME "Help" link, it'll explain any uses for the "Snapshot" system.
Welcome abroad, mate. ![]()

I'm guessing that he means using JSGME to take a "snapshot" of the game files. This allows you make sure, when you uninstall mods, that your game is really back the way it was before. It is a feature of JSGME, but perhaps earlier versions did not have it. |

Oh so it is literally a picture of your enabling screen, just for record keeping? Like the one we often see here when someone is trying to show which mods he has enabled?
Well then to answer jbmaine, the procedure is clearly unecessary, since very few of us ever take screenshots of that, and it does not seem to make a difference. |

No, it is something JSGME creates so that it when you later uninstall the mods, it can compare the game files to insure they are really back to their "stock" condition. One of the modders around here can explain it better than I. |
