Disable in the settings of realism "Restricting supply of fuel," "Limitation supply of oxygen ," "Limitation of the charge the batteries," in *. sim set the maximum speed of underwater and surface area of 30 knots and a half it's done! Nuclear submarine during the WWII is ready!
But seriously, it will not work in SH5 realize until then, until the tool GR2. This means that very long!

I am very new to SH5 modding scene and have no idea how extensively can you mod it, but I have a feeling that it's not possible to change the sub itself because someone would have already done it!

Can someone comment on this?

Would be cool to have different mods to transform the sub to different subs, though.

Having nuclear missile capability on the other hand is completely new mechanics so, unless you can really code in addons such as new "stations" (like the map, hydrophone, radar etc.) and from what I've seen so far, it's not possible.

interesting question tho and welcome to the forum!

I was playing this game called "Sub command 688 seawolf Akula" or something like that a few years ago (5 perhaps?), and I enjoyed that IMMENSELY! The sonar station was so fun to play with the "high tech" sonar waterfall. And you had the option to launch tomahawks and SSM missiled to strike at surface ships and whatnot, and if I dont remember wrong, you could launch nukes aswell.

You also had a radar and radar detection antenna that made it very interesting.

And it had this awesome sonar array that you reeled out after the boat to minimize disturbing sounds from your own submarine. You also had to take into concideration to reduce your propspeed to reduce cavitation so your sonar array worked better (less noise from your sub meant you could "hear" better with your passive sonar array. And I think there were thermal layers in the waters that you could use to your advantage. Some missions involved stalking russian typhoon class boomers under the polar caps or deploy seal-teams at Murmansk. So freaking awesome

Hmmm, I might have to dig that one out some time. I really really hope we will see another modern sub-simulator soon.

You will lose the 3d crew and the modern graphics goodies, but SubCommand and the even older 688i are fantastic nuke boat sims. Even today.

Consider that in a nuke boat you never surface anyway so graphically you are not missing anything. Systems modeling, sounds and great Ai are the key.

PS if you must have 3d graphics, the SH4 guys may have done something nuclear.

Dangerous Waters is the solution to target!

As above, Dangerous Waters is the latest nuclear submarine game available on the market, with graphics only slightly worse than sh III wou will be satisfied.
Download and install latest mod "Reinforce Allert" here:
http://www.redrodgers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4912

New types of submarines added (including modern ASTUTE type or russian ALPHA)
Have fun!
