Default Chess Board

That looks great !

If possible could you crop the poster to the border of the map itself, i.e. exclude the 'raiders of the deep' logo ?

Just let me know how much and how to pay !

Cheers

oh, and perhaps switch the chess board around so that the 'white' square is in the top right corner of the map (over the Russian convoy route). That way the German pieces can be lined up along the right hand side from Norway down to Africa and the Allies on left, from Canada down to South America !

And the Ark Royal (King) and Prince of Wales (Queen) of the Royal Navy ...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/6403163...n/photostream/

I have some IXc and VIIc U-boats to paint as pawns, as well as A/H class, Q/R class and J/K/N class destroyers as the RN pawns.

Thought I'd use Hood and Repulse v Graf Spee and Scheer as bishops.

Prinz Eugen and Sharnhorst v York and Exeter (?) as knights.

Not sure about the rooks yet !

Default kriegsmarine maps

Hi,
accidentally I read this post.
Attention, I don't know these grids maps are free of copyright...
... than you may find them on the web searching on google image "Kriegsmarine gridsmap", scanning rapidshare or in this post.

I'm a private collector of KM maps, you may see my >100 maps on www.kartengruppe.it.
On the registered area of my site you may find the links for the scan (I've uploaded on madiafire) of some original kriegsmarine nautical charts & atlas, come from my personal collection... so copyright-free
This is an exemple:

... just for fun

May I make a few suggestions? This is what I imagine the pieces would be...

Perhaps the HMS Hood and Repulse could be rooks, one each of the York and County class heavy cruisers as bishops, and the Town class light cruisers as knights.

As for the Germans, I would have the Deutschland class Panzerschiffen (I can't really think of any other ship designation) as rooks, the Scharnhorst class battlecruisers as bishops, and the Hipper class cruisers as knights.

Darn, I'm rambling again.

Default ROOKS

Sounds a good idea. I'll have a look at the Deutschland class ships.

I had thought about the old battleships Ramillies and Royal Soverign as knights as they were slow but useful.
