Default Torpedo tubes question (answered), IIA

A quick question - how do we change the number of torpedo reserves and their locations?

I'd assumed it was in basic.cfg under SUBMARINE_AMMO for each sub type, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I know it's been done to fix the IXD2 stores for instance, so... where do I look?

Hello CCIP
I know Wolfie mad a tool that could change torpedo loadouts and also change stores for them.
you can get it here:http://www.wolfiesden.com/games/sh3/files/
I think it was called "Tweek SUB"

I know you asked for the lines in cfg file, but this is perhaps another way. Hope it works

Actually, that's what I thought TweekSub could do, but it seems it only lets us change the default torpedo loadouts for each type of sub. It does list the number of tubes and reserves, but I haven't found any way of changing these :hmm:

All I'm really looking to do is, for example, remove the external stores from subs in later war, and/or play around with the IIA to make it into a fake XXIII :hmm:

I think in fact there is. He is mension a sort of "cheat" where you can add a line in the shortcut, and then you can add more torpedo reserves in any sub you want.
Stay tuned, I check out his read me

Yes, here is from his read me:TweekSH3 does have a hidden secret though. You can alter the number of reserves, extras and external slots...to a point. If you just run it by clicking on the EXE file, you can't do this. You will have to make a shortcut so you can provide a command line option to it. See the screenshot below

Look in the file, there is a picture showing where to do this.

Excellent - thank you! I can now mess around with my plans for the IX - but now the other part... anyone ever find any way to change the number of tubes? I'd love to make a 2-tube IIA :hmm:

Aha, I think I've done it by messing with basic.cfg, too

Great, thanks! That just proves that we can have a provisional XXIII for those who want to mess around; for me it was more of an experiment. :hmm:

Oh, it's a "provisional" XXIII - just a type II, but with the XXIII's approximate performance characteristics and crew, along with only two torpedoes. One thing that's missing is the Snorkel, I think.

Unfortunately I'm not good with tweaking things of this sort, but with some luck I think it would be possible to give it XXI-like advanced equipment, and maybe even the XXI tower - which so far I haven't managed to do.

But again, I mostly did that just to experiment a little.

Would a real XXIII be possible? If a good modder/modeler gets on it, definitely. Even if we can't add new subs, it would probably be realistic to remodel the type II. :hmm:

That's sounds really interesting. How about this guys working with this 3D-tool? They seem to be able to create almost everything. Throw it out to these guys maybe something will show up.
Is it some hard code stuff that makes it impossible to add subs to the game?

Wow!!! Maybe we could have a playable Type IIB finally. I think only 12 Type IIA's were ever built... and many Type IIB's WERE
built.

You would think Ubisoft would have noticed this and built the Type IIB instead of the Type IIA...

How different is the IIB, anyway? From what I see, it's basically right between the IIA and IID in terms of size and range.

I suppose the real problem is that we can't change the name. Otherwise, it's easy to adjust the "IIA" performance to IIB values. :hmm:

Is that why its not possible to add more subs to the game?

I'm not really familiar with the way this works specifically, but so far as I know - we can't put in more sub-type objects into the game yet. I think this might be hard-coded.
