Default war end?

Anyone has reached the date when the war end? Since i play SH3, then Sh4, i never reached the war end. So, how's the war end looks like? is there's a picture showing Hiroshima and Nagasaki being bombed, or what?

There was something of an urban legend when the game first came out that if you hung around the ports of Hiroshima or Nagasaki on the correct date, you'd see an atomic fireball. But they're not there. No surrender on the BB Missouri in Tokyo Bay either.

Would have been nice to see the fly-over in Tokyo bay right after the surrender. It consisted of 1500 carrier aircraft and 500 B29's. But it's probably just as good that it wasn't included - my computer would have died part way through.

I just finished a career. I was traveling along my merry way when all of a sudden, a whirlwind picked me up and dropped me at the closing screen (that shows your tonnage when closing the game). At this point, my entire (virtual) life flashed before my eyes as I was lead through various screens that narrated my lifetime exploits.
Afterwards, the main menu appeared.

All I've ever gotten was a radio message telling me the war was over.
Don't sink any more Jap ships. Kinda anticlimactic really.

You gotta be kiddin'.

I only ended a german u-boat campaign, started from 1944. Seven patrols in totum.

What basically happened is this:

1 - I got a starndard radio message, saying that the war was over and redirecting me to port. But the game ended abruptly as soon as I closed the message.

2 - I was taken to a cut-screen where the famous "you fought like lions" message from Doenitz appeared.

3 - A second cut-screen appeared, but, nothing new there: you know that same screen you get when you, resuming your carreer? I got one of those saying i was to become a famous NATO advisory.

I would have traded all of that for the chance of sailing care-free back to base, and then having the game end there. Would be cool to approach some british DD and say "hello', mates!" to them.

Yeah. It'd be nice if the game would pour you some champagne or beer and toss a little confetti in your face.
