An Interesting Problem

Ok, so I downloaded a cheat mod from CheatHappens, and it seems ok, it modifies the number of shells in the deck gun, the speed of it, the reload capacity and speed, so pretty much the super guns mod. It also changes the speeds of the subs, and the hull integrity and max dive depth before it begins to depressurize. This worked normally for a while, but whenever I am out on a patrol, my sub will randomly start going down, I would normally assume that it would be me accidentally hitting the D key. I go to the external view and the ****ing sub is at an angle, and going down, and I have no clue why. I first assumed this to be a problem with max speed, so I changed the max speed to the originals in the config file, and it didn't do anything. Hell, the subs still went past the max speeds. If anyone here has any idea how to fix this, please let me know. Also I know I'm gonna get called an idiot for using a cheat mod, but mostly I got it so when I just want to have fun ****ing up the Japanese Navy beyond belief, its easy and possible. Thanks, and any help will be appreciated.

First off, welcome abroad Saintjimmy50.

Forgive me but, I never heard of CheatHappens or the mod you mention. However, if you're playing the stock version, that version is already quite basic and easy. Did you try changing the Gameplay settings at all? If you uncheck "Realistic Reloads" the deck gun already loads at an astonishing rate. Additionally, if you set the game to "Unlimited Fuel" you can easily blast across the vast Pacific at flank speed (20kts) to your heart's desire.
I would dump the mod and try tweaking the game's own settings.

Thank you for the tips Wernher, but I don't think you fully understand what I meant by what the mod does. I have no need for the speed portion of the mod, the only parts I really want from it are the fact that it makes the deck gun automatic, along with the fact that it holds more ammo, and the hull integrity thing so the sub takes less damage than it usually would. I tried cranking the max speed back to their defaults in the config files, not for the usual gameplay settings.

You should check out the mods here in the downloads area. There are mods that will do what you want. These may be a bit more stable in SH4.

If you just want your deck gun to fire like a machine gun,d/l a little program called skwas.
then go to sh4/data/library where ever you installed sh4 and find a file called Guns.sim and edit it

Is there one that can increase the amount of damage the hull can take?

As far as I know there are 3 files you can edit,
1 is sh4/data/UPCDATA select the submarine you want to edit and change the hitpoints accordingly
2 is sh4/data/submarine select the sub your useing and edit the .ZON file to the required hitpoints

Make a note of all the files you edited (make back ups) then go to
My Documents/sh4/data/CFG/userplayer context
and edit the equipment upc file to whatever you you edited they have to be the same.
