Default Kentucky fried bugs

article

pictures

Hm. I would eat it - if I am surviving a plane crash in the middle of the jungle. But here in my normal life? Must I copy everything just it is being done in other parts of the world? In Asia they also eat dogs - must we do it too, therefore?

If they would be wise, they would take the protein from these "food suppliers" and give it an industrial treatement, like you do with Tofu or flour. Protein-bars basing on industrially treated bugs is something I actually could imagine to use, like I also use tofu and certain other food items I occasionally buy in a Bio-shop.

I love traveling, and I have had a lot of "odd" foods
trust me, most are not as bad as you would think

I've had fried insects. They were pretty good, and I could see myself eating them as a snack. The only problem was reaching into the bag and pulling out one to eat, and having all those dead legs and wings brushing against my hand.

Are in a survival situation, you have not many choices to make, and then you take what is available, and it wont be like this, tree roots, grass.etc

For me there would have to be no other option as well as being close to death from starvation

Well then...pass the scotch so I can kill the taste of said crusty critters. I just can not see myself indulging in bugs.

I personally have always found it ironic that people make faces when it comes to insects and the like, yet will quite happily eat crustaceans which are close relatives.

Anyhow being vegetarian, I have the perfect excuse not to eat any of the above

Well, these crustaceans do not invade by kitchen and scurry away when the lights are turned on. They are not in my garden or making a web in the corner of my room. Nope, these are steamed, sauteed or fried often dipped in butter, cocktail sauce or spiced with Old Bay. Just something I grew up with. Eating bugs...not so much.

After you enjoy your meal of maggots and flies, be sure to save room for these delectable desert trays, such as chocolate covered scorpions.
