Default Radio Contact Reports In Non-Travel Mode

Howdy -

Quick question - when I am in travel mode, my TC will drop to 1 if a radio contact report is received. (I have that option checked in the top bar menu). I have the intercept range set pretty far out, everything works fine.

However, in non-travel mode, the radio contact report shows up only in the Captain's Log, and never even appears as an incoming radio message in the regular Ship's Log. Since it doesn't pop up in the Ship's Log the TC can't react to it, and I go sailing merrily on while a juicy convoy unjustly reaches port.

Any ideas? I'm sure its something simple, but is sure is annoying to have to pounce on decreasing the TC whenever a convoy pops up on the map.

I have MO, TDW, and the usual soup.

i think if you put TC1 on the anny message box.... your TC will drop at 1 even if you are in travel mode

No what he is saying is that it does drop to 1 like it should but if he is running at 1 the message never shows as a message it just shows up in his captain log....

when you say you have set preaty far, what is far....cause i notice the only ones that dont show in my message box are ones that are like 33 lat. and such...another words ones that are way down below africa and such...

so i believe the ones not showing for you are farther away then what you have it set to. i set mine to 450 wich is 450KM

I have the range set to 500km. It's very strange. I'll see the red "ghost ship" appear on the map. If I'm in Travel Mode the radio contact report appears in my ship's log, TC drops to 1, and the navigator gives me some bearing information. Just like it is supposed to work.

If I keep everything the same but switch Travel Mode to off, the red "ghost ship" appears on the map, and it shows up in the Captain's log but not in the ship's log and nothing happens. TC remains high.

These contacts are all happening well within 500km, which is a huge range.

Yup. That's precisely my problem. I want to turn travel mode off while on patrol, but I can't get radio contact reports when I do.

Oh well. I'm going to do a complete re-install here shortly anyway when I get the disc version of the game. I did my original install from Steam and the SH5.exe patch doesn't work with that version, so I'm going to start over. Maybe that will fix it.

if you run tdw's Ui have you looked in the user.py file to see if you have it set to true or false...there is a setting in there to turn off TC1 on radio contact report. Im thinking yours might say false....

Take a look through the file and see
