Default ULTRA flotilla anybd?

Hello,

A while back, when I was playing SH5, it was nice to be part of the Enigma flotilla correspondence and they where courteous enough to accept that I played SH5 (even though it was mainly for SH3 GWX) but since we're playing fleet boats, I suggest somebody starts the ULTRA flotilla, and as I understand, it needs some coding simulator as well (which I think I stumbled upon the other day). I think it would be great for added realism.. But thats only me, how about you Ladies and Gents?

When you say "ULTRA" (since you were originally playing the ATO), does this refer to the ULTRA code-breaking team in England? I know the American equivalent in the PTO was called MAGIC but, the IJN codes were not as "standard" as the Kriegsmarine. Would something like this work in the PTO? Then again, I might be thinking of something completely different since I never played the ATO.

I guess flash is about as close as we have. I miss the special ability man that picked up radio transmissions or something like that in old TMO, you had many convoy messages compared to now, usually the ones within 500 miles.

what is ATO? and I only play stock but now I'm flight simming

Don't worry my allegiance is to the USN no doubt but in O'Kane's book, he mentions ULTRA so I figured it would be those contact reports or convoy reports from code breakers in Pearl / Midway / Brisbane area. I meant an actual stand-alone simulator, one that we could use and post contacts to a thread here like the KM's Enigma. A typing machine.

Yes this is what I meant. But only if we could start an ULTRA thread here, but I guess traffic differs from computer to computer hence at any point in the game, if one for instance reports a battleship force SE of Saipan at point in time X/X/1944 and another player is in the vicinity of this area at around the same point in time (X-1 day/X/1944) so I dont think the same user would spot the same convoy, or is it the other way around?

ATO is an acronym for Atlantic Theater of Operations.
SH5, and I believe SH3 are both in the ATO.

Oh, now I get you. The problem with that is both people would have to be playing the same day in game. We've done threads in the past with this since most traffic in RSRD is 100% scripted to spawn, so it will be there same day regardless of who plays. Stock is more random, so difficult. People use to start threads showing SS's where they locate traffic using RSRD so people could find it once they got to that day.

Oh, I understand now, ULTRA in concept, right? Like Armistead says, could be a little difficult. Stock is definitely out of the question. I suppose it would stand to reason that RSRDC might be the most consistent and therefore a prerequisite. I'm pretty good with my Pacific history, though Armistaed seems to beat me to the punch quite often. He knows most of the major battles inside and out. Me? Well, it all depends on how tightly my head is screwed on at any given moment.
Anyway, is it even worth it to try? Something like this sounds like it needs a sticky right from the start or the thread could get lost in short order. Would need interest from other members to keep something like this alive, I would think.
Maybe the best thing to do is just keep on top of all the battle maps I've DLed from the internet. Might just be easier that way, using references on the web.

It would work with RSRD fine. Still, these threads seldom go anywhere, because few play at the same time. People could post the month they're playing and I'll send em to some good action and a great ambush point..

I know where several huge convoys with 6-8 Type C escorts in Formosa pass in 100 ft of water
