Hey,
I'm currently reading 'The Caine Mutiny' and I like it a lot...any other 'similar' navy novels out there? With 'similar' I mean not the usual war stories or 'hunt this sub' but more deep stories about serving in the navy. |

I would recommend Herman Woak's WW2 epic Winds of War and War and Remembrance. The central characters are from a UN Navy family and the books were written by a man who served in and loved that service. Covers the entire war in the European and Pacific Theatres from 1939 including an interesting interlude in Berlin while America was still neutral and a fictional lecture by Gunter Prien attended by a future USN submariner. Very long but worth the effort.
Herman Woak also authored The Caine Mutiny. |
