British Transport starts out, as it always does, with coal routes, where the money is. A slight mistake is made by spreading out on a 0-6-0 goods loco, a little too early for such running costs, but it gets the coal there faster.
Coppernobs are used for the remainder of routes, and three six-horse carriages are used on a subsidied route for some extra coinage.

The Coppernobs were too unreliable, so they will be phased out in favour of the Cramptons.

Meanwhilein the middle of nowhere, a lone Patentee trundles backwards and forwards with the name 'Slow Freight' written on its tender, going nowhere and doing nothing but losing money.

Passenger services begin on British Transport with Midland Spinners and 'Lady' classes taking the strain.

Midland Spinner

Lady (of the lake) class

Meanwhile, TransArc folds, only to be reborn anew and shoot up the leader board like a rat up a drainpipe, Slow Freight is renamed to Fail Transport but undergoes a reorganisation and manages to start scraping a small profit in some areas. Unscrupulous Enterprises flounders under an ambitious ferry scheme, is renamed Bankrupt Industries and abandoned. Thomas Hogarth!!! flees to Switzerland, gets some money from the Swiss mafia and starts again.

Technically it's spelled THOMAS HOGARTH!!!!!!, but the game doesn't allow that.

The new Unscrupulous Enterprises is doing nicely, probably because it has managed to avoid charges of industrial espionage, sabotage, money laundering and tax evasion so far.

EDIT: Scratch that, stupid rail collisions...

Yes, we run some addons that add more rail sets,Road vehicles, Aircraft/Airships and ships.
and some addons that adjust the looks of towns and cities to be a bit more proper for the timeline.

the locomotives are really expensive, and in this timeline you really have to keep check whether the train you just built is making money or is costing you money. Also I noticed that some locomotives become more expensive
first for me a Crampton costs £19.000 and now they cost £22-23,000.
