The "I am under 18" button is sort of like a "Wet Paint" sign: the minute you put it up, someone will want to touch the wall to see if it's true. It becomes almost like a challenge or a dare and, most certainly, a temptation. In matters of human nature, it all started with Adam & Eve:

The mistake was in not forbidding the serpent; then Adam and Eve would have eaten the serpent.

dunno if good ole greatgranny Eve was the first one who pressed the button, but your statement is true: Everyone knows these "quizzes" many TV stations have: Games where you can win stuff like a computer or a flatscreen when you know the right answer to bs questions if Paris is a) in Europe or b) on the moon.
A huge amount of people call for the anti-Captain-Obvious-answer, at rates of 1-2 bucks, without a chance of winning the prize. According to numbers that I had access to, it was that about 40% call for the wrong answer. I don't have much trust in common intelligence, but it seems that there was a great amount of curiousness rather than dumbness.
Good for the people who earn from the callers.
