I'm interested in seeing if anyone else on here is an avid gun collector/target shooter! So, what's your favorite gun in your possession? Most accurate? Prettiest...ugliest? Wish list?

If so, let's see some pictures! I'll post mine once I'm back home on my own computer. BUT My collection includes (by date of purchase/construction completion):

- Taurus Model 63 .22 Repeater
- CZ52 7.62x25 pistol
- DPMS AP4 Law Enforcement Carbine (5.56 M4-style AR)
- Ruger GP100 .357 Revolver

- Romanian (Czech BRNO built) .22 training rifle

The list was much longer having had a slew of bolt actions. But I got married and those were the ones I parted with. Out of all of those I'd say the 1903 Springfield was the best shooter and most accurate of the bunch. Should have never let that one go.

K98 Mauser with Dachau numbers and paperwork... never been fired (by me)

Colt AR-15 with 4 power scope, bayonet, numerous magazine styles (fully auto)

MAK-90 (Fully Auto)

M1 Carbine

M14

numerous hunting rifles and shotguns, my preferred hunting rifle is the Winchester 308.

Couldnt say which one is most accurate as some have not been fired in a while, but the 308 is sighted in almost perfectly at 200 yds and makes the mark quite well.

as for pictures... I'll have to do some diging. I dont think i have any on this machine.

Very jealous of you individuals with the Class IIIs...-sigh- someday. That's very interesting about the K98...I'm somewhat of a bolt-action nut; I've always felt that older rifles showed more craftsmanship and "character". Thanks for the response!

that K98 is a beautiful rifle. Of course it has been extensively restored to like new condition. I believe that it was built in the POW section of Dachau - which, while a shame - its important that such things be preserved.

I really cant wait for the opportunity to fire it.

just remembered - i think the pics are on my portable drive which is currently on loan to a friend in Dallas. I expect it back soon.

we (my father and I, I'm still out to apply for a FOID card, but we live on a farm so it's alright) have a .22 rifle, a .410 shotgun (both of those aren't really the kind that have names, they look very generic)
but the newest pride and joy is a Taurus Judge.

it's a combination .45 and .410 pistol. Obviously for personal defense. and, even better, it's a revolver.

I don't own any, as it'd be a bit of a hassle for me to do so right now (see location), but next week I'm visiting a buddy of mine in Florida again, and shooting guns will be a must. He's got a collection that is vaguely similar to Radtgaeb's actually, or would like to be similar since he's looking to buy an SKS. He's got a Mosin, a .22 semi-auto training rifle, a .22 revolver (which I think is a Ruger, but I'm not 100% certain), and a CZ-75 with a couple of different barrels.

Can't wait - really got hooked on this American pastime of yours Too bad 9mm ammo is such a pain in the butt to obtain these days, afaik it's still rather expensive.

The only weapon I currently own is an '03 Springfield, built in 1942 by Remington Arms. It can't match the Garand for quick-fire, but it's a nice old rifle and I like it a lot.

@Rock...Don't you just love 7.62x25TOK? My buddy was bragging about his .40S&W Glock...until I sent a round through both sides of the the old horse wagon that we use as a backstop. I'd never use my CZ as a carry gun...a load that hot would be downright irresponsible to use if you'd ever have to discharge in public.

@Steve...The Garands are nice, yeah...but as I stated before, I'm a bolt-action man for the most part, so I completely understand having a deep admiration for that 1903! I hope to get my hands on one at some point.

@Golden...yeah, that's a piece that MUST be preserved. It's historically important, and you're a lucky man to possess one. It's one of those situations where it's horrifying that something like that exists, but it needs to be preserved.

@CCIP...9mm ammo is hard to come by up there in Canada? For shame! Down here in Middle-of-Nowhere, Indiana 9mm is about $10-$15 per box of fifty rounds (compared to my cartridge of choice, the .357 Magnum which is just shy of $25/box)...hence why my next purchase will probably be a Glock 19 or CZ75.

I was very interested in the Taurus Judge series while I was trying to determine a carry pistol...but I read an article on www.theboxotruth.com (GREAT ballistic performance site) that showed that the standard .410 loads won't penetrate a denim or leather jacket. However, it's probably safe to say that it'd still ruin someone's day if you popped them in the face; it would probably still make a very decent car gun. "No, Mr. Carjacker...you will NOT pull me out of the driver's seat."

I'd have to say that, while my AR is nice, clean, and pretty; the SKS is by far my favorite piece. That thing will eat anything you feed it, I could hit it with a semi, bury it in the mud, and pick it up again and it'd still keep smiling and shooting. Can't ever fault the Ruskies for making solid, dependable, easy-to-maintain weapons.

The only ones I'll shoot are the M1A, the Mossberg, 1911, Remington 742, and the .22. I fired the 1903 after buying it to see how it was and it was pretty good, cleaned it and don't intend to shot it again. I used to shot the M1 before I got the M1A. Haven't gone out to a range in about 4 years so I'm sure I'm a little rusty in my marksmanship.

Load it with the Winchester PDX1 shell.

Been thinking about buying a inexpensive bolt action rifle, like a mosin nagant but I would have to wait till after school (no firearms in the dorms.)

You wouldn't be disappointed with the Nagant. My father and I both have one. His is an M-44 (carbine, swing-out bayonet) and mine's the full 91/30. BOTH are solid guns; mine was grouping in half-dollar-sized formations out of the box. I simply cannot stop singing the praises of a gun that only cost me $70 that can hit anything you point at it at 100+yds...and everything within 10 feet to the left or right of the target as well (yay for backsplash!)
