TVs - the wheelchairs of imagination. See it this way, Fräulein: you are healed, you can rise and walk again!

Just watch your programs here on the internet.

Television is terrible anymore. I rarely watch it but to catch up on the news every now and again... and to watch Comedy Central and Adult Swim. And AMC's Fear Friday programming.

Otherwise, it always stays on Turner Classic Movies: the only channel without any commercials any and s****y programming.

Well you can always send it to the Netherlands

Our study corporation has a great use for old TV's

Basically the rules are to put as much TV as possible through a 10x10cm hole

Makes them 1st year students happy, you know

I can't take it to a shop easily as it's way too big and heavy for me to move easily - no way I can carry it. If it comes down to either buying something new or getting it to a repair shop (or trying to work out a way to have a repairman come here) I will probably just buy something new.

Ah, there does appear to be a little panel secured with a screw, where the power cord connects to the back of the set. May be worth a try if I can maneuver the thing around and check it out.

The bad thing is I'm already looking at LCDs on Amazon and now I want one.

Okay what's the deal with LED-lit? Obviously it costs more, is it worth it? I don't know what it does!
LED lit screes last longer(have a longer lifespan) and use less power

Yuck, I do not want to sit here at my desk to watch TV shows and DVDs. Watching shows online is, for me, an option to take advantage of if I miss something that I normally would make a point of watching, which is almost never, since I don't make a point of watching more than a couple shows a week any given season... if even that.

I can't lounge on the couch and watch a show or movie that way. It's not relaxing. I certainly wouldn't sit here and watch a two hour movie like that.

But I agree about Turner Classic Movies.

That's what I'm seeing as I browse what's available.

Oh well, I'm not going to get anything I want any quicker through Amazon if I order tonight - soonest I could get something is late next week, and it's not my #1 choice in my price range although I could get 24 months to pay it off with no interest which would be awesome.

I may look here locally tomorrow just to see if something comparable or better can be bought at a better price. If not I'll order from Amazon and still get it the same day.

What sucks is that I need to be reviewing a lot of kata right now, before next Friday, which are on DVDs which can now only be played in a room where there is not enough floor space to actually practice them. Which is why I'd kind of like to get something ASAP if I can and get it up and running.

Of course the last time I tested for a promotion we had a ginormous windstorm come through the weekend before and wreak havoc and I didn't even have electricity for the entire week prior to the test, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Then all hope is lost.

In which case you must only watch this:

Might I suggest if your a COSTCO member look there.

While they might not be the cheapest, their return policy almost gives it a LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Something to think about.

ps. Add $50.00 basic membership fee if your not a member.

pss. Be carefull. You'll go nuts at the cheap prices of stuff in THAT place.

Which would be fun and interesting, but not likely to result in anything getting fixed.

The plug itself is one solid piece, nothing to pop out there to repair/replace anything either.

Ya might want to unplug it before delving any deeper. TVs carry a wee bit of electricity.

And don't touch any capacitors. Some can still hold enough to juice to ruin the day, IIRC.

Oh, I learned all about electricity when I was a preschooler, helping my dad tinker with stuff in the damp leaky basement of our old house. I believe the first lesson went something like, "If you want to hold the lamp for daddy, please don't stand in that puddle."
