+1

A bomber sim with all the relevant planes and a 12 O'Clock High-esque campaign engine, that would be...awesome...

And that's where the problems start. People want to be ably to fly every single bomber type there was, so instead of a highly detailed, historically accurate true simulator that focuses every detail on one type right down to the last switch you end up getting something more and more arcade as you add flyable types.

I'm all for including B-24s and B-25s and Lancasters... But if such planes are included the have to be historically accurate in their operation.

As far as a linear campaign of 25 missions... Why couldn't it be dynamic? There would literally be hundreds of factories, plants, airfields, rail yards, bridges etc to bomb in theory. And with nearly any start year the campaigns would differ a bit each time you played.

I chose 25 missions simply because that's how many a B-17 crew was required to complete (late war was 35).

I imagine that any game made along these lines would probably just start with the B-17 and then DLC in other bombers.

The Accu-sim B-17 looks an absolute beauty though, she's one I've been eying up for a loooong time.

But yes, yes I would play a sequel to The Mighty Eighth, although I never got to play the original sadly. RAF Bombers on night missions would be nice too.

The newest accusim b-17 is amazing. From start up to shut down.

A2A needs to start making it's own sims. If I had to tap a company for such a game it would be them.

The Acusim is fantastic!
I still have my Mighty 8th disc. The grapics for then were nice but for these days not that great.

Needs more than B-17. At a minimum the B-24, 25 and 26. The Brits (Blenheim, Halifax, Lancaster) and the B-29 (for the pacific) would be very good but more of a bonus.

Needs to have a dynamic campaign like MiG Alley or Falcon.

Needs to have SP/MP support for smaller escorting aircraft much like MiG Alley where players could fly the CAP, Escort, or Flak Suppression missions for the bombing raids. Could add pathfinder mission for the RAF.

Missions other than bombing. Maritime patrol and glider towing come to mind.

I think the necessary flyable planes for a strategic bombing campaign set in Europe would be the B-17, B-24, Halifax and Lancaster. Other planes that participated would be nice, of course.

I'm pretty sure that there was a hyper realisim B17 third party add on for MSFS. Saw it on some demo CD somewhere.

But I dont think it had any missions involved.

I'll go look and see if I can find it.

Here it is...

US daylight bombing would be great, but the British night time saturation bombing would likely be boring. Now, low level Boomerang (Mosquito) raids on German ship yards would be more my style.

The 25 mission campaign idea is fine if it was selectable as historical or randomized. I'm half in love with some scripting to the historical campaign to reflect actual main battle points, as in when fighters appear, new fighters types arrive, changes in defense measures, smoke screens over target areas, etc.

Yes thats what we were discussing earlier... i have that for MSFS. However, that is simply the aircraft.

you load up in a B-17 and go free flying.

no shooting - no missions etc
