Greetings all!
I've been playing shoot 'em up type games for quite a while and even got into Dangerous Waters when it first came out. I'm looking for something a little more challenging, while at same same time not requiring me to be a fleet admiral to be able to play. I've been looking at stuff like Sub Command and Jane's 688(I). I'm looking for something that I can play against real persons (once I've sunk my fangs into the AI opponent a few times) I like the modern stuff and not so much into the WW II or earlier. Here are the specs on the system I'm currently using: Processor: dual 3.0 GHz quad core 64-Bit processors RAM: 8 GB Video ATI Radeon 4550 w/ 512 MB OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit So, to make a short story long...I want something that kicks a$$! What are your recommendations?! ![]() Last edited by NoGoodLandLubber; 09-23-10 at 01:23 PM. |

If you aren't into DW, then I don't know that you'd find Sub Command or 688(i) all that enjoyable, because they the forerunners of Dangerous Waters. If you are into modern naval study sims, then those three games are as good as it gets.
In terms of challenge, have you tried mods and full manual in Dangerous Waters? I find that to be pretty challenging. |

WELCOME ABOARD!
![]() I don't play any modern sub sims, but we do have two forums just for DW: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=181 http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=196 And another dedicated to Jane's: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/forumdisplay.php?f=193 Have fun, and don't forget to ask lots of questions.

It's been quite a while (years) since I've played DW. I just didn't know if something better had come along or not.
Will DW work on a Windows 7 box? The machine I specked out at the start of this thread is my work machine that I just got last week! Last edited by NoGoodLandLubber; 09-23-10 at 01:22 PM. |

Oh Helllll yes!
That was one of the first wargames I ever really got into! I've decided that I'm going to go home tonight and shake the dust off my DW cds. I know they're somewhere in that monstrous pile of crap that I call My Desk. If not, I think I saw it at Half Price Books not far from home. |

With more time on my hands I'm just now getting back into sub simulations. I'm interested in DW, but can't locate where to buy the program.
The initial tittles I'm looking for are: Dangerous Waters with free cuban missile crisis Fleet Command Naval Combat Pack Jane's Naval Warfare Collection I'm a retired S3 Viking AW and I miss the hunt. I've already purchased SH5, but I want to get the other SIMs also. Any suggestions? |
