Not sure it's possible, it would require modding your save and I haven't heard of any utilities to do that yet.

Go to your (well for me anywaysDocuments\SH5\Data\cfg\SaveGames\xxx (number)\and then just check around the different files and you'll find career.cfg or career options, and you can edit renown, medals, Uboat number, etc.

Sorry if this is way off, i'm on my laptop that does not have sh5 and am just going from memory.

I haven't tried in SH5, but it was as Krauter says in SH4.

Keep in mind though that you may not actually have U-27. Even though it says that in the story scene, mine was U-31 so I think it is just sloppy/unfinished game writing. I know... shocking from SH5... I was actually upset because 27 is a preferred number to me lol.

I think the number actually switches around for every campaign you do.

Also, the only time you'll ever really see that your number is changed is when you send messages.. kind of useless right now until we see more of it now.

Cheers,

Krauter

You could make a skin with your number on it. It wasn't done on U Boats but that doesn't mean you cant do it on your own machine.

Under "data\Roster\German\Submarine" are different u-boat types and numbers (with dates of avaliability for each one)

Easiest way is to delete all other units and leave only one sub because there are more subs with different numbers which can be assigned (randomly) if you start career in september 1939.

Example for VIIA:

[Unit 1]
Name=U-33
DOC=19360725
DOD=19400212

You`ll change U-33 to any number you desire (check avaliability date from-till, in this case its 1936 07 25 - 1940 02 12 ). Start a new career.

I had no success editing ongoing careers, it simply reverts old number back each time I reload game. Only editing before starting new campaign worked for me so far.

I actually haven't even looked at skinning my own boat yet in SH5, so I don't want to tell you the wrong one.

It did however occur to me that a much easier way if you just want numbers on the side of your conning tower would be to edit the conning tower emblem. Again I haven't edited them myself but you could grab the Fistful of Emblems mod, pick one that you don't like and re-edit it with your design.

Look for Conning_7****.dds files in "data\Textures\Tnormal\tex".
There are all conning towers for all u-boat types, you just need to find right conning tower for each type you currently use or just edit them all...

Yup editing the dds textures will allow you to place the number or anything you want to the hull or conning tower.
Here is a hull texture I was messing with.
