I tried increasing the resolution to 1200something x 1000something yesterday (looks great), but now I have a problem with my periscopes. They raise much to slowly. I timed how long it took to raise the scope before I fiddled with the resolution (to see when I have to raise my scope in order to get a view of the target seconds before the hit), and the time was about 10 secs. Now after the resolution-thing, it takes almost 35 seconds (!!!) to raise the scope completely...whats up with that?! Has anyone encountered the same thing and/or has a solution?

I think it depends on the frame rate. When I'm watching a burning ship through the scope and lower it, it takes forever. When I'm just watching sea, it lowers at a normal speed.

I timed it using the ingame stopwatch, so any stutter would also affect the stopwatch... I dont thinks thats the problem.

Your computer is just having trouble handling the higher resolution, its working overtime, lower the graphics if you want resolution that high.
