base changing weirdness

hi folks,

just a quick one: i'm on my fifth patrol, sept. 1942. finished and returning to Fremantle
finally arrived there with only 5% fuel left and it won't let me finish, a closer look reveals that the 'home port' anchor icon is suddenly on Midway.

now i know about the base changing and not receiving messages which sometimes hit the game but i never asked for a flottila transfer or anything

there was an ingame radio message about Pearl boats redeploying to midway but that's none of my business. i'm in the manilla/surabaja/fremantle taskforce and i don't bloody want to have to sail to midway!

is my game corrupted, will a reload before 'rtb' sort it out? do i have to fiddle with a savegame file to type 'fremantle' there or what?

any ideas from this cool community will be appreciated

You could refit at Fremantle and then proceed to Midway.

well yeah but i dont want the game to say my base is midway when it isn't, so i was looking for a way to fix it

i reloaded a save in the java sea, refueled at darwin and sailed the 7000 miles to midway, there i don't have an option to transfer but they send me to Rabaul so it seems the game still thinks i'm operating in the southern end of things, right? or do they always send everything to the bismark area during the solomons campaign?

The game is acting normally. From the date you gave you are probably in a Porpoise Class. Here are the end dates for the submarines in the Freemantle flotilla from the flotilla.upc file.

Tips for staying in Fremantle where the targets are plentiful and the escorts rare. Upgrade a Porpoise before 3-1-42 and do not accept a further upgrade until after 12-1-1942. If you upgrade from 3-1-1942 to 12-1-1942 you will get a Gato but you will switch to Pearl.

The same thing happends to me. When I start in Manila, I never get any messages when Manila is bombed. When starting from Pearl I get the message.

oh right! thanks for that, played this game for years but never had this happen before, i guess i always got a new sub after 4 patrols, only this time i didnt

i'll just see where this game takes me
