Im running a
Intel E6750 Dual Core Proc 2.66Ghz 4 gigs of ram EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked. Win 7 x32 bit I can run the game at max graphics (1680x1050 22inch monitor) with about 70fps in the sub and around 30-40 outside. The issue I'm having is my mobo and proc. are so old its bottle necking my graphics card. As far as ATI vs Nvidia, I've also had both and my experiences are NVidia run cooler and are faster. They also support more games IMO and are more compatible with older computers then ATI are. Plus Nvidia drivers are more stable.

The optimal requirements for me is a system that shows of the beautiful graphics . Anything less and i think i would stick with SH4. Ati 5850 seems like a bargain atm .

I have an NVidia GeForce 9600MT on my Acer Aspire 8930G laptop and runs fine on max settings.

I can run the game at max, with AA x 4 and AF x 16. (See my specs below in my sig) I have low FPS at those settings (about 15 - 40 fps) but that is mostly because my cpu is a single core (and min specs stated on box is dual core cpu)

I run a 5970. I´m getting black flickers when the lighting situations change abruptly (like going underwater with freecam and coming back to surface) . They disappear after a few seconds. Could be problem with internal Crossfire config of the card. They got rid of the same problem in Battlefield BC 2. Sh5 is probably not their top priority though. The card is capable of running the game at good fps, btw.

I'm running 2x ATI 5870s wi 1 gig each in crossfire (i5 750, 4gb, win7).
My monitor is 1920x1200, and I play with all graphic sliders at maximum except AA, which I have 2 "notches" (4x?) towards the right. To enable crossfire with this particular software I had to rename the .exe to a supported title, but that's minor. The game looks and runs great. Mods can affect my framerate. Some unacceptably, so I have to pass on a couple unfortunately. With respect to drivers, ATI has been very good the last number of years in my experience. I buy both brands having 3 machines and have good, and bad, experiences with both. As an example, a 2.5 year old Geforce 8800GTX, a card that cost me $650Cdn at the time, just died on me. I expect cards in that price range to last much longer than that, and generally they do. I could have sent it back to the manufacturer as it has a lifetime warranty, but decided against the hassle + shipping and handling and bought an ATI 5770, which blows it away and supports directx 11, for $175. I did quite a bit of research into SLI vs Crossfire, and imo Crossfire is a far more flexible solution that allows compatiblity with a much wider range of game titles. There are lots of good hardware review sites out there. Decide on a budget, do some research, and keep an open mind with respect to brand. They both have their pros and cons.

How do you rename the exe? Are you saying that my 5970 only ran sh5 on one chip?
Sober, how much you think I should underclock?

Actually another way to try is to download antilag and limit the FPS to say 32 .

Hi there. I haven't actually owned a computer since my Atari 600/130XE, but am looking to get a laptop-one that will handle SHV at full-detail, or close-to, at say...25-30fps.I've been console only since then [reliability, and lack of games, understand...Atari pretty much had all the problems that plague/d PC AND Mac users....b)
Anywho... been reading up a bit, and am wondering: would an intel i3-350m [mobile] be sufficient, spending the extra cash [over say, getting an i5] on a better graphics card, say, 1GB [integrated]....?? Or even better? Plus 4MB ram. I won't have broadband initially, probably; so won't be able to actually play the game...I just want to know I have a computer that can handle it. I can wait. In the meanwhile...I'd have SH3 and 4 to play for the first time....;0) A little side-question on those [as I'm guessing everyone's played them]; do you start with the campaign first [just with anti-bug mods installed]...and then apply, say; Trigger Maru and Real Fleetboat [not together, I know], in order to gain more replayability? Or do you go straight for a super-mod...? Or the game patched, plus just a few 'regular' mods, i.e; Real Breathing Ocean [or somesuch]?? Only if it's no trouble;0) Z. ![]() |
