What exactly do you mean by automatic Crew Management? There are many different aspects to Crew Management. As far as the damage control team is concerned, there are some variations depending on what mod you are playing but, for the most part, you go to the damage control station and drag whatever damage that you want repaired immediately, to the top. You can assign certain crew members to the damage control stations but generally, those with the propeller icon, work the best. Most crewmen will already be automatically doing repairs, within their own compartments, should those compartments receive specific damage.

Sorry, can't help you with multi-player.

There is a thread somewhere about crew management, but from what I've read, the best thing you can do is just pick your damage repair crew and then leave it alone. They'll automatically start repairs as needed. Of course in picking them you want to pick the ones that have a high number in the mechanical column. They seem to repair the fastest. I too, at first was intimidated by crew management, and I guess if you wanted to, you could really micro-manage, but I prefer to let the game handle it for the most part.

Your crew works automatically for the most part. Put a good officer leading the damage team.

Main thing is your repair order, so at the damage screen drag or click items that need repair faster to the top of the list such as bulkheads.

Obvious if you're under attack and taking damage you want to be at battlestations so all crew members will repair. For instance if your control room takes damage, you can place your cursor over the men in that room and it should say "repairing".

I'm all for moving men around as needed. The torp men usually have high repair status. If that room isn't damaged I will move them to a one that is for quicker repairs.
