Them advance-fee fraud letters sure are amusing.
What boggles me though is why someone would think they could fool somebody in believing that the South African government would contact you; probably a non-bank employee at that – to transfer such an amount of funds.

In your case I'd ask him a little more about how this department operates and certainly why South Africa would be mining in other countries, and how this happened. And if they are ready to spend this amount, wouldn't they already know where to invest it?
No way, too many holes in this story, at least he (assumption) could've tried a tad harder.

Frauds boosting a deceased relative are more convincing I dare to say.

I think you should hook this guy up with that Marine Captain that's in Iraq that made a similar offer to you.

But some people are retarded enough to fall for those scams, that is why they are popular

Ask him which country they're interested in, unless he already know which country you're in that is.
Having some fun (and taking their time) while you have the chance, these guys have a nick for being crafty.
Seemingly, this department has got more than one trying to "invest" money; http://www.stacken.kth.se/lists/arla...7/doc00000.doc

I'm afraid you're right. Some of the mails can actually be quite convincing after all, but this one is simply too lousy if you ask me. After all; if something's too good to be true, it probably is.

Could not resist posting this as it contains a comic story,
My name is Captain Matthew Stamford of the US Marine corps stationed in Kabul,
Afghanistan,I found some money stashed in a couple of barrels while on patrol
($900,000.00) I need someone to help me move it to a safer place, please have it
in mind that there is no danger involved.

How big is the risk that you will find the money barrels, and not so little either ($ 900,000.00), the stories become just better and better from the point of view komedy
