Default Major Bugs in SH4

Hi Community,

I'll give SH4 a 4th (!!) try - interested only in Atlantic theatre (OpMonsun). Have installed it 3 timed before and immediately deinstalled it, maybe I decided too fast.

In order to get a fast overview, I am interested in the main bugs of SH4 and in the workarounds. Thanks very much.

By far the biggest flaw for many seems to be that it's called "Silent Hunter 4: Wolves of the Pacific" instead of "U-boats in the Atlantic something something something". I'm afraid there's no known workarounds for this, even with all the possible Atlantic mods.

Besides that there's some good old left-over from SH3 and some new ones: Don't stay near spawn areas for ships(usually but not always ports), don't save if you have damaged ships nearby, disable volumetric fog if you don't want "the ghost crew", come out of high TC while in the navmap view to prevent jelly water, avoid TC over 1024 so you don't mess the weather, etc...

With the latest version of OM and OMEGU, the ATO plays very well in SH4. I would give it a 9/10 rating. Lurkers work is fantastic, enjoy!

Bugs, I am sure there are a few left, and they are shortcomings in the short development time that SH4 endured. At this point they really do not affect the game play and immersion is really nice.

Happy Hunting!

I'm curious as to why you immediately uninstalled it the previous three times.

My reply is so late because it is hard to give an answer. Now after some days of playing single missions, I am surprised about the answer: it were mainly sound issues / misssing sounds - compared to Sh3. Currently I try to fix them for myself. After that I will go deeper into gameplay. There are some things I like very much in Sh4. Graphics (OMEGU300), Crew management, Damage management.
