Hmm, I tried to sneak to scapa flow (20 march 1940)
I met couple of destroyers there. Hunt 1, V&W. They pinged me and tried to destroy with depth charges. Water depth was about 15m. I was running at periscope depth. I easily manouvered them and got just slight damage. I managed to escape (closer to scapa flow). I met second destroyer there. I also managed to escape. I found they are very inacurate in droping depth charges. They was shooting at my periscope (so they knew where am I) and were unable to ram me (well.. one rammed me a bit but did little damage, I was turning 90 degrees at flank speed while he was trying to ram me from 180') or depth charge me. Weird. I'm using rub 1.43 |

Most destroyers in 1940 are crewed by novices and they have equipment that's all but useless. Try the same thing in 1944 and see what happens.

I'm hoping that one day, the folks who mod the campaign files will add historical traffic to the ports. It will take a while though, as the developers left a lot of things undone.

those "noobs" ended my career in Dec 1940!
Before that day i was also thinking the couldn´t harm me in any way and so i became nasty. U-64 was sunk by DC´s Dec 24 1941 in the irish sea. ![]() RUB 1.43 here too

Yeah. They aren't all noobs. There are some well-trained crews out there too.

I find that by watching the DD's movement pattern usually
will determine how good he is. The better ones will hunt, drift, sprint, change direction and repeat. Most of the novice ones will just change direction once in a while while chuging along at a steady 10 kts...... JIM PS. Using RUB 1.41 & patch 1.4b
