Thank you sir~ =)I downloaded a mod called "SH4 effects for SH3" yesterday, smokes were heavy and the fire on sinking ship made me hot...but several ships such as Nelson and Graf Zepplin could not move in the water and game often crash...

Sometimes there are conflict, between different mods, game crash, (if this happen it go) under name: CTD=Crash to Desktop, but your video card is also important in any kind,so what have you d/l more?

My video card is HD 5750, CPU is AMD AthlonIIx4, 4G Memory, 500G disk

I use SH5 water effects for SH3, and M.E.P V3, then it is the SH4 effect for SH3. Obviously it was the SH4 effect for SH3 mod caused CTD. So, now seeking other versions of smoke and fire.

Depending on what you are looking for you might want to try the GWX supermod. It has an add-on called GWX Enhanced Damage.

Here are some pictures by one of the members who uses it.

Also, as Vendor said, the likely problem is using mods that conflict. I use the SH4 Effects mod with no problem. Can you give us a list of all the mods you are using?

I'm pretty sure these are incompatible, as they are both environment mods that tweak the same files.
Also, MEP 3 is a 20km environment, which places a lot of strain on your video card.
I can't run it on my machine without problems.
(I stress, this is the fault of my PC, not the mod!)
Maybe your machine is not quite up to running it?

500G harddisk rooms;ATI HD5750 1G display card;AMD AthlonIIx4; 4G Memory. I think it no problem with new effects.
Yes, conflict occurs...What a pity..
I d like to try the following steps:
1. install original SH3
2. make back up for the folder "SEA"
3.install SH5 water
4,install SH4 effect
5.copy the backup SEA folder back...

Cuz I think SH4 effects modified some files which are contained in a ship folder, so in order to keep the ship sailing as usual, original files should be kept.

The problem is: when i enter Museum, some ships such as Nelson, Fiji don't move on the sea and their screw don't run at all!!!!

......you might be luckier than you know....I applied MEP 3 with the 20K....in mid patrol...

Suddenly I was being detected and followed by every plane in the RAF........Looked like I had hit a hornet's nest and the whole colony was after me. This lasted for days.

Mind you this was in January 1940 and a long way from the English coast. Seems the 20K extented vision is applied to the enemy too. I couldn't approach any vessel either under 20K without being detected. Kinda hard on you to have to do an underwater approach from 20K.

So I killed the extended range but kept all the super great environmental tweaks. Now I'm quite happy.
