It's just too bad he can't do a thing about UBI supporting this currently dead title other than tell us he's here for us.

Fair chance ? what fair chance ? Weren't they all been wasted by now ? UBI's attitude towards SH5 gives no chances to think about fair chances anymore. Hope is a mother of fools, the more you hope the more you feel let downed later. Fair chance was alive at the time when the last Subsim meet in Copenhagen took action. At the time all seemed to be rolling in steady nice flow. Relations with SH5 dev team (well at least with one of them) seemed to be promising, that finally we will get what we want - A Total U-boat Simulator. Sadly the reality is cruel. SH5 has hit the shelves totaly up by enormous quantity of bugs and ridiculouss DRM protection that requires constant Internet connection. Now how terroristic or rapistic is that were spoken in many various threads. So on the final note, all the hopes of ours about the decent simulator were japed on the moment we saw it. I remember Neal at the very begining tryed to fish out the positive aspects of the game and point them out to the community, but that didn't last long too, I bet finally he also got p.issed off because of UBI doesn't care at all and went dead silent watching others bashing SH5 as it deserves it. And what now ? Is there anything else to look forward to in the future ? I know officially SH5 is dead, only moders might do some magic now. GWX5 for instance ? not yet ? I give up you do the guessing. Tired of banging my head at the wall of obscurity..

The termination of GWX4 was not a fail.

There were many reasons to put an end to it all.
The Primary reason (in my thoughts)
was pure exhaustion and personnal problems suffered by all the GWX Team members.

The secondary reason was the hype over SH5.
We felt we could not offer a viable package for SH4 that would not be
over shadowed by the release of SH5.
We were wrong in the secondary reason, Yes.
But not the Primary reason!

GWX Members suffered personnal problems for the sake of a Game.
For what?
Not a one of the Team ever saw a dime.
Many gave up not only free time,
they changed thier business to apply more time to SH issues.

So don't refer to the choice to terminate the project a fail!
It may prove to be the vacation needed!

Ok Privateer, but in one way it is a fail in another it is a vacation I always thought GWX4 was canceled because of SH5 coming in the horizon as a major reason.I bet it was kind of silly to continue work on GWX4 knowing that SH5 (we hoped it's going to be better than anything in the past) is coming. It is a fail because SH5 has not met our expectations and it is a fail because no new progress was made due to waiting for SH5. I will not touch personal things about RL matters of GWX team members. Somewhat it is another topic but still closely related and can't be written off let it be a vacation to you guys. Nevertheless there is nothing to look forward officially for the present. Might be it is just my personal preference but I always do like waiting for things I know I'll enjoy, this is because it is a fail to me. And because UBI totaly roused me up with SH5 I said GWX4 termination was a fail. But this wasn;t ment to be any of offence to GWX dev team itself.

Just to clarify... in case the last bit of Privateer's post above is confusing to anyone:

Neither myself nor the executive officer (Jimbuna) ... nor anyone else... will be re-convening the Grey Wolves Expansion project or development team. It will be maintained as a retired freeware team and project in good standing.

We have done our collective bit for the community, and I will not lead a team into that lion's mouth again.

It is time for some other mod team and mod team leader to slog it out under a NEW mod project title.

All that being said, to whoever it is that plunges in and has the ACTUAL fortitude and staying power to rescue SH5 from the tar-pits... God bless ya.

In a way his appearance is one of the catalysts that this community needs, right along with the collaborative efforts being undertaken by a number of our members.

Maybe there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Let's all cross our fingers, hope for the best and contribute what we can towards a positive outcome.

This does not mean that SH5 has been abandoned and the situation might change in the following months. I have no time frame for a possible improvement nor can I estimate the chances of it happening.

So, for now, we must rely on the modders to improve the game. I'm asking for your help in putting together a basic list of must-have mods.''

Appreciate that actually tried and noted most thing we told him and that at least spent some time for us searching for answers(Thing that UBI actually never seems to do)he said he coem here to subsim sometimes.

AT least he directly gave to us the innevitable answer for the next montsh do not w8 for something new, something like the Sh project was abandoned( maybe paused) and for sure if they reput the dev team, they will have to wait some months to finish their project or put a new dev team that ill have to reunderstand the whole thing again, and wait again some months.

Actually now seeing the state of Sh5,( w8...now i understand that im very furious....speaking/telling helps also for calming down and rethink and make use of logic) for contrasting i know why Sh3 did better: they worked with the uboat veteran that give tips to them( probably when showed did thing in ''Sh5 quality'' he will everytime give them a slap(right word?) in on their faces till they do it more properly.
Now im calmer.... well in the end at least i appreciate that they gave us a sub game that actually is better than nothing
Just remebered old days in Sh3 at 1944 with teh tension of not being hit by a destroyer when damaged, flooding forced to stay on sea floor at 90 m......

So now we're left to beg the questions:

Please ask the Ubisoft accounts department what address the modders can submit their invoices to.

And where can we download the sh5 source code, so we can fix all the faults in this piece of abandon-ware?

DAMN...I cant believe ANYONE would bash the GWX team for calling it quits. HELLO...they did GWX FOR FREE!! I think they are entitled to call it quits whenever they want.

Privateer... Im alwasy in awe over what the GWX team did..even today! The fact GWX even came into being, as amazing as it was ...with NO ACCESS TO THE SOUCE CODE was just astounding.

Sure I wish GWX 4 would have continued...but I think MANY of us here were surprised to see the GWX team even try and tackle SH4 after the lenghty process GWX 3.0 was.

Lol I read through the entire thread, and his post.

Really now? That's odd, because you just said that "Silent Hunter 5 does not have and cannot get a development team", and that "the people that have worked on the game have been assigned to different other projects". So yeah, I'd say that fits the criteria for "Abandoned".

and the situation might change in the following months.

Might? So it's possible, albeit unlikely at the same time? Well... that doesn't do much to restore any confidence in your abilities from the community- at least not this particular member.

I never bought Silent Hunter 5, but this pretty much guarantees I'll never buy it.
