i dont know what it takes in this game but i would like to see and sink a ship other than a merchant or there crapy escorts on like my 15th partrol and that is all i have seen so far ... (mark of frustration)

Sounds like you're running stock SH4?
In TMO I find targets to be very varied... and there's a Ship Pack here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=157080

And for more varity there's a Merchant Skins pack somewhere...

You may like RSRD mod, corrects the historic traffic layers so you can find about every battle that took place at the correct time and place. The battles in stock are poorly done, but still there, so look where the battles took place.
