Default Diesel engine sounds while on bridge?

Anyone recommend a sound mod that allows you to hear the diesels running when you are on the bridge? Right now I hear only silence even when I am at flank speed. Just a steady rumble would be nice.

I've tried Thomsen's sound mod, but even with all the other great new sounds I still hear nothing on the bridge. I know there are other sound mods out there, but I can't tell if any of them address this.

Suggestions?

Agree with the above. It's not normal not to hear the sound, so it shouldn't take a mod to put it there. If you're not hearing it then something is wrong somewhere.

Are you by chance using FM's New Interiors mod? It changes some sounds, and sometimes my sound comes and goes because of it.

I had suspected that might be it. Just don't know how to check or fix it.

No, not using the New interior mod.

I have the following mods in addition to SH Commander

GWX Capt America's Officer Icons
GWX Enhanced damage effects
GWX Integrated Orders
GWX No Medals on Crew
GWX Open Hatch Mod
Searchlights removed
Waterstream+exhaust comb v2.3
WB's Mission orders Lite v1.1

If it's just the diesels your after try out FM's New Interiors. It has sound files for just that (I find them a bit loud) and a very nice interior complete with diesel engine room all the way up to officers quarters

One thing you can do is go directly into the SH3/Data/Sound folder and check Submarine_Diesel_Exterior. It's a .wav file so your computer's Sound Recorder will play it with no problems. This is just on the off-chance that somehow the file has been muted. It's not much but it's a place to start.

Checked it as you suggested and it sounds fine. Just don't know why it doesn't seem to work 'in game'.

Other sounds(diving, surfacing, creaking...etc) come through fine 'in game' just confused why the diesel noise doesn't.

If I decide to use that mod is there a way to adjust the sound? I'm really only looking for background noise, not anything that will make my ears ring.

I suppose if you ran it through some other program to lower it's volume, I have plenty of programs like that as I use my computer for music production so when I get some free time I will change the file but I guess I will have to get a hold of Flak Monkey first though

I've had this problem too. If you go to external view and move the camera underwater near your sub, then come back up, the sound is restored. Odd.

I usually don't have the external cam activated, but what the hey? I'll give it a shot.

The mod is great. You get the compartments forward up to but not including the forward torpedo room, and everything aft ending at the engine room. No motor room and aft torpedo either, but it's fantastic. All the bunks and stuff. You also have the engines making quite a bit of noise inside now.

To turn everything down you can use your computer's onboard Sound Recorder. Open Submarine_diesel_exterior and turn the sound down. Simple as pie.

I just did that myself. Now on the bridge I can barely hear it - just enough to know it's there. Inside it's now a low rumble. I love it!
