Remaining old subs
Hey guys,
I'm curious if anyone knows... Are there still any old subs rusting away in any old US Navy holding areas, mothballed and waiting a tug to the scrap heap or donation to a museum?

I don't know about any old subs but a few months ago I read where the Navy is getting rid of one of their carriers, free for the taking, for museum purposes.

Well the USS Cutlass (SS-478) and USS Tusk (SS-426) are still out there somewhere....

Both measure with the Google Earth ruler tool to within a few feet of the spec- 307ft, as does the USS Becuna, in Philadelphia, which I used as a constant. I'd put a case of beer on those boats being the ex-Tusk and ex-Cutlass.

Based on their movements through the historical imagery available, (or more specifically, lack thereof,) I think they are retired, possibly tied up for training, or awaiting the politicians to decide what to do with them.
Sadly, next we hear might very well be images of them getting scrapped down to the waterline, if anything at all.
