Default Silent failure 5. Losing my optimism.

Well let me just start of saying that silent hunter 5 has potential. I sometimes have fun with it when fully modded. And i even had some fun with it out of the box when ignored all the issues. But since the day this "sim" came out i and many other hardcore players have been finding a way to turn it into the thing we really wanted it to be in the first place. But for about a month now i,ve been pumping mods into sh-5 and it does work to some extent. But i just cant help it to find myself passing some sh-5 time for other good sims simply because it does not feel complete and unfinished. Sure we have all these mods but it takes such a massive s.h.i.tload of mods to make it into the sim i want it to be that i get CTD,s now. I cant blame the modders because they are doing some amazing work out there. For example i finally configured sh-5 into what i would call "close to sh-3 GWX. But after having 5 CTD,S in minutes i just could not help thinking that i just wasted another 40 minutes and i didnt even get near my objective zone. I mean when i have to leave port 5 times because of crashes it drains you right out of the pleasure! Its things like this that make me not toucht the game for another 2 to 3 weeks. It just suck the fun right out of the whole immersion and experience! Sure sh-3 and sh-4 had its issues but sh-5 seems to be such a bad programmed peace of software that its almost impossible to be overlooked! I remember when sh-3 was stuffed with mods it crashed on me from time to time but it was acceptable. Now when sh-5 is fully modded it crashed so i make multiple saves to make my way up from there. Then i save and the save itself makes the game crash only to find out that my other failsave,s have dissapeared allong with it. I,m pretty easy with stuff like this normally but i just cant help thinking that i,m seriously loosing my optimism for sh-5. Not because of the gameplay but simply its f.u.c.k.e.d at the core. And when something is f.u.c.k.e.d at the core its pretty much a sinking ship. Not to mention that UBI has waved its a.s.s goodbye and leave the modders to work hard to sort there s.h.i.t out. Thanks ubi! You gone to fat this time!

You should probably edit out the curse words in your post.

Well, it's times like these that really make me wanna hug Lurker_hlb. SH3 for me is just a bit too buggy with corrupted saves so it's up to Sh4+OM+OMEGU to fill the spot that SH5 has left empty.

Lurker has my admiration. He's done an incredible job, and taken on more large projects then i ever had the patience for. People really should check out his work. The problem is alot of people have horse blinders on. They only want to see uboats, and not really give anything else a try. So, SH4 just doesn't even make it on the radar for many.

Surely i might just not give up on sh-5 . But for now the bad just outweighs the good. Maybe some complete package in a supermod will clear things up. But for now i will just watch on the sideline to see where sh-5 go,s

I don't remember which game it was, but I had so much trouble just getting the dang thing to run long enough to enjoy the gameplay that I finally gave up on it. Pretty frustrating when that happens. It was patched later on and ran just fine thereafter. Hopefully that happens for SH5.

I'm sorry Oscar, that truly sucks. I know how even one CTD can ruin an entire night. I had the same issues with Enigma: Rising Tide and have never touched the game since. It's obvious that everyone has made their minds up about SH5 and either enjoy it or can't stand it. Like so many have said, just give it time and either UBI or the Modders will make it into the game everyone expects. Otherwise, hopefully UBI won't pull the franchise and we can hope for a better SH6 with something for everyone. I think it'd be great if they went back to the Pacific campaign and just alternated every game. It'd be awesome to have the technology behind SH5 with a Gato class sub.

Unfortunately Oscar19681 is right! SH5 was released as alpha-beta version which means it is much more buggy and unfinished than SH3 and SH4 were in time of their release. In return this means I am not sure SH5 can be acceptably fixed by modders alone. If UBI Soft really abandons SH5 its future is rather dark, I think.
SH5 developer should make available one-two patches bug-fixing vanilla game to a point it will be playable with most annoying hard-coded shortcomings removed and basic features fully functional. Only such SH5 version could become a basis for creation of large super-mods.

I'm sure most of these dev companies are on contract terms.
