Default Sub Skin....???

Do any of you skinners out there know were in the world that rusty section of deck is called from in the SH3 files. Its not part of the .tga deck files for any of the subs as far as I can tell. I believe it has something to do with the snorkel. I would love to be able to paint it black like the rest of the boat. Thanks for any help!

all of the decks are located in int the respected sub folders .DAT files
you need timetraveler's SH 3 unpacker " not sure where to get it"

X:\SilentHunterIII\data\Submarine\\

NSS_Uboat2A
NSS_Uboat2D
NSS_Uboat7b
NSS_Uboat7c
NSS_Uboat9b
NSS_Uboat9c
NSS_Uboat9d2
NSS_Uboat21

if you look in the .dat file using SH 3 unpacker you will find the .tga file you need then edit it the way you want and put in in the
X:\SilentHunterIII\data\Textures\TNormal\tex folder

If any one know I would like to know how to pack the file back into the .DAT file
I have used the option to repack it but I keep getting and error saying the the .tga is not found in the .dat file..I have made sure thet it is the exact same name but it still rejects it..
thanks

Thanks for your reply.
Yup, I know exactly what your saying about the .dat files. Ive looked through them all. There are even more .dat files that refer to the sub skins as well. They are located in the objects folder. But they are the same as the .dat files in the submarine folder but with some extra added .tga files. The game is grabing this small section of skin from somewhere els.
But I will answer your question for you. I have tried using the program that you are talking about and I had the same problem with it. IT DONT WORK!
So, I grabed this one and it works great! ftp://ftp.ubi.com/us/games/chessmast...TexExtract.zip
All you got to do is make a folder for it and then go get the .dat file you want and copy/paste a copy of the original .dat file in the same folder with DatTexExtract. The program is very simple and easy to understand. Hope this helps.
