Thanks for getting back, I really have been getting frustrated.

I did everything by the book. Even did a mod-soup procedure after removing RFB. I'm begining to think that it might be not running the gold edition. Are there code differences between gold and SH4 and the seperate UB addon?

Again thanks for getting back...B

its made for sh4 v1.5 so make sure the UBM part of sh4 gold has been installed or it wont work right.

GFO has been working fine for a long time so if the mod is installed correctly and your absolutely sure jegme is installed correctly and in the correct location then i think it has to be the game itself has been corrupted somewhere along the way and you need to uninstall it, delete the leftover files from the main directory, move the documents sh4 file to the desktop (to try to save your saved games)

reinstall sh4 and install ubm 1.5 then install jsgme and test game, install GFO and test, after your sure its all working ok then you can try moving the sh4 file from desktop back to your documents and overwrite the existing one. the saved games "may" work or they may be corrupted or not work at all but if they are trashed then just delete them and next time you run the game it will replace the sh4 folder with a new one.

remember, saved games will only work if all the mods that were installed at the time of the save are still installed in the game so if you use different mods you need to keep notes of what mods must be installed for that saved game to work.

this should fix you right up

note - if you saved a copy of your complete unmodded stock "data" folder (as everyone should always do) then you can save time by deleting your existing data folder then replace it with the backup so you dont have to uninstall and reinstall the game (replacing the data folder effectively replaces any and all files that could have been corrupted)

Maybe a more clear answer to the actual question.

The Gold version "is the SH4 with U-boats included in the retail box"
And the U-boats included part is how SH4 becomes 1.5.. if you install SH4 and if you install U-boats, then you are now SH4-1.5 ready to go...

Anyone who bought the regular SH4 at one point in time might have bought U-boats as a seperate add-on, but once they install it, they are now SH4-1.5 ready to go...also.

Some of the purchases of the U-boats add-on at a later time, were digital downloads from steam or direct to drive.. Basically no difference, but direct to drive potentially only allows you to activate your software once, where steam is more forgiving every time you wipe your hard drive, you have to ask for permission to re-activate what you purchased.. (from direct to drive only, from what I hear..)

Half the people in this forum call it SH4-1.5 and the other half call it SH4 with U-boats installed.. so there is a terminology switch, but it's the same.

And, finally.. I can't think of any good reason to have any version less than 1.5, since MODs can usually be brought up to date or are forward compatible for the most part. It helps if you like to tinker in the files.
