Default Periscope Depth

Is it just me? When I order PD my depth is now 14 to 15 ft. Even on smooth water it's barley sticking up. On rough seas it is almost impossible to see anything. I even have a tough time getting it up to the right depth. I'm running 1.2 and DW's UI mod.

Which boat are you in? VIIA? VIIB/C/C41? Also are you using other mods, perhaps UHS which changes the periscope depth?

Same Issue here, just got the VIIB boat, and now I canīt see anything in the Observation periscope. the Attack periscope is still oki though.
Iīm also using DWīs mod, but not sure thats the one to "blame".

Well I'm in 1940 around Norway. I did accept the command once for a new boat though. I've taken out DW's mod and it made no difference. I'm not running any mods that changes the sub files. I'm using the MFCrew mod and the morale mod. I am going to take them all out tonight though just to make sure.

Are you using the twisty periscope thingie mod? That changes the height of the periscopes, but it's a problem from the game, not the mod. The mod just reactivates stuff the devs turned off.

HA! That's another thing. I use the morale mod and that stupid cook always refuses to make his special soup. Everything is enabled in his screen. Any ideas. I'm ready to throw him overboard!

If you're using the MoraleMod still, you don't need the cook's soup since there's no morale to raise.

Managed to fix this on my own.
Checked out the submarine.cfg in my MODS folder and noticed that periscope depth was 14.5m for a type VIIB.

For a type VIIA it is 13.5m

So I just copied that line and put it into the type VIIB and VOILA, now I can see above the waterline with my Observation periscope.

Dunno what mod changed this or if it is a stock issue, but It was truly gamebreaking for me, not beeing able to use the observation periscope.

Though I canīt tell yet if the conning tower is sticking up above the waterline, cause I play with no external cam on. So beware for destroyers if you try this.

Thanks Cpt.

I took out my mods last night and I still was at or below 14 feet for periscope depth. Really sucks even in choppy waters. I'm anxious to get home and take a look at this cfg file and get things back to where they were.

Hope you get it to work!

The original file is located in : Silent Hunter 5\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7b for the type VIIB, but the one I changed belonged to the Historical Specifications Mod 1.3 by ddrgn, so I didnīt have to touch the original files.

Weird thing. I remove all mods PD=14. I look at the sub cfg files and they're are all set to 11. I really don't know what the heck is going on. It gets old going to PD and the scope is barely out of the water. I order 10 or 11 meters and it takes forever to get to around 12 and then it holds there. I hope someone reads this that may have had this problem and fixed it. I'm running a VIIC. Maybe my save files are messed up.
