Occasionally I will stutter, mostly when I'm stressed. But its very rare maybe once a month (The stuttering not the stress).

Happens to me, usually while I'm reading. Actually most of the time it's not so much stuttering as it is every word trying to get out at once. Annoying as crap whenever it happens... Usually the longer I go on talking the better it gets, though.

I never stutter, I just say "eeeeeehmmmmnghhhh" for a few seconds instead

oh and the pronunciation of my "L" is not what it could be.. it's more like "ehwl"

Not really a stutterer but if I'm giving a speech ex tempore, I can have a sort of mind block and just stand there quiet. But that's not really stuttering, is it?

I have stuttered for about 45 years. Yes it can be annoying. What I find more annoying is other people's reaction to my stuttering.

But you can get past that. Are you seeing a speech pathologist? Have you been checked out medically?

What is interesting is that I never stuttered when speaking a foreign language nor when I talked on the radio while flying. Strange.

But in any case, no you are not the only one who stutters.

I used to have a problem with my r's and w's, both used to come out as L's or owawewlells. I don't do it any more but it's still there if I don't really concentrate on the word. My teachers really helped me at school though... ok I'm being sarcastic there, they used to make me read stuff in front of the class to get a cheap laugh. I think that's what makes me so conscious of it now. But yeah I still go through each day, even though I don't do it anymore, I still hesitate whenever I have to say certain words

I stuttered as a kid. My brother-in-laws brother is a stutterer. However, he can sing like a canary!

Frau Kaleun angry. Frau Kaleun SMASH!!

That kind of stuff is inexcusable. And I don't care if they thought they were "helping" in some perverse way. Adults should know better, especially in that kind of profession.

Same thing here. Over the phone, Teamspeak, or while singing (well, trying to sing ) I have no problem talking.

Very interesting actually.....I had a colleague who developed a stutter well into his career. It got so bad that members of the public (the more negative type) would harass him at every opportunity whilst he was on his beat/precinct.

This would often cause a fair amount of work and create bad PR in the area so he was reassigned to the comms room where amazingly, his stutter ceased.

After a shift when he went to a local bar with some of his colleagues, the damn thing would emerge again....but each shift in the comms room he is fine.

The last I heard he was seeking the help of some kind of speech therapist, I don't know how it panned out.
