Default Unmanning the deck gun

How do you unman the deck gun. We've just sunk a tanker in relatively heavy seas and while going about my duties I saw the poor guys still holding on with the deck awash at times.

Don't think its possible in the stock game (bug/ missing feature) use theDarkWraith's superb multiple UI mod, it adds a lot of extra commands back in and I think cures this and many other problems with the stock game. Just be sure to use JSGME to install it though as you will probably have to uninstall it again to install patch 1.2 next week.

The " STOCK " way to unman the deck gun is to dive the sub

Diving the sub is the answer but the cannon boys will have to get wet.

Actually I beg to differ chaps.

The STOCK way of unmanning the deck gun is to surface

Do it on the surface and they will leave the gun position.

So long as morale is up, and it should be if you've just sunk a ship, F5 is the key to use.
Other wise as said, use the surface command R instead if F5 doesn't do it.

No probs , although SabreHawk is quite correct F5 should work for you as well (and maybe a tad easier)

F5 didn't work, but surface did.

Yep thats why I've taken to using R instead, cause it will work in spite of anything else.
Where F5 is sort of hit/miss and not to be depended on cause it relies on morale which is broken at the momment.

I have hopes that this sort of disfunctional things are sorted out in the patch. At least it'd better be or even I may start firing torpedos at UBI myself.

An interesting thing happens if you are at the gun and push "surface". Your crew leaves you at the gun, pointing in any direction and it becomes a bit of a hassel to get back up to the conning tower! Mutiny?

with the current morale bug, it's better to leave them on post..

All you need to do is to order the XO the secure battlestations, and they will play cards, eat and sleep on the 88, they will even shower with it, surfaced or submerged
