It also apparently comes with MekTek's mod packs. (New mechs and updated graphics)

Actually, you can download the torrent and use WinRar to extract the .mtx file, then download a usermade patch to bring it to v0020. Dunno if multiplayer still works though

Latest patch is out. LOS radar is finally in, which means that light mechs finally have some use for scouting behind mountains and hills. Also a new Mech, some maps and other stuff.

Cool, the magic sensors bothered me a little. Can't sneak up if they can detect you behind the hill.

Played MW2, and the 2 expansions (Ghost bear and Mercs).

Then MW3

I had MW4 and the Black Knight Exp - never did get Mercs.

But I have it now!

Only bad thing is that the torso twist is way to flacky with my joystick. But have played thru the SP campaign a couple of times since getting it.

So... yea you could say I am a fan!

Would someone please explain to me what this is about? I was a MW4 league player back in... whenever that was... but I've never heard of MekTek and I don't understand what this "free" (!?) mech sim has to do with MW4?

Help!

This is MechWarrior 4. MekTek is the home of the multiplayer community at this point, they're the ones who released the MekPaks, which were the standard mods for multiplayer for quite a while, and now they're the ones who are distributing the free MW4 (Which comes with their MekPaks, naturally).

Cool. I got my start with the pen-and-paper version clear back in junior high. Played a tabletop version briefly (remember that one well... my medium mech toasted my best friend's heavy. Gauss rifle and SRM's, gotta love 'em ).

I've played maybe three of the video games since, 'Shadowhawk's Inception', the first 3D MW (in classy EGA), and the last one being MW3 which I still have.

Haven't installed this one yet. You guys here play it online much?

I play online some. Usually running around in light Mechs while everybody tries to hit me in their slow heavy and assault Mechs.

So it's a heavily modded multiplayer free downloadable version of MW4?

I used to play vanilla, and it had some balance issues. Basically everyone would fit their mechs with jump jets and as many large lasers as they could fit, and spend 30 minutes peeking over hilltops and sniping at each other. The large laser was just stupidly imbalanced. Have problems like that been sorted out, or is it still a sniping game?
