Default What mods for a former GWX player?

So I think I will bite and buy SH5. I mainly played SH3 with GWX in the past so I like my DD's deadly. I see there is a few AI mods. Which one's would be best to download?

Also what other mods make the game a bit better? I see there is a few UI mods as well.

Thanks for any help

Willkommen Kapitän,

there are many mods to choose from, these are my favourite essential mods:

1. periscope/recognition manual mods - to manually determine range to target w/o stadimeter:

2. Escort AI mod - these guys know what they are doing:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=165886

3. missing commands - adds missing commands, like "depth under keel" and others:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166236

For the most part, order is not essential. SH5 is pretty good in that regard.

JSGME will tell you if there are any conflicts. If you get a conflict detected, best thing to do is check the thread for that mod in the mod forum: either it will be disclosed as a benign conflict, or it will be stated that the mod is incompatible with 'XX' other mod.

The only time I've noticed that order is important is with my UI mods. I'm using three mods for UI/crew orders purposes, and they all conflict. If I install in the wrong order, the screen is unplayable. But a little mix and match and eventually it is righted again. If you get anything wonky such as this with several essential yet conflicting mods, just try a re-order before you give up entirely on those mods.

haha. nevermind. i think i found the bug myself. reloaded my save from last night and asked for a "depth under keel" and no one would reply. i checked the morale of the crew and it was at zero. they wouldnt do anything. looks like i will have to risk installing your mod at sea.
