Default TMO - Looks fantastic but...

....its just to darn hard for me, especially those pesky little planes. Only been playing a few days.

I was using Websters game only fix mod and liked it, so will probably go back to that but I would also like the bells and whistles (visually and sound) of TMO.

So which mods would get me closest...

Thanks in advance...

Chub

Try TMO with Training Wheels Mod, it has the bells and whistles without the degree of difficulty.

If the aircraft are your main concern just open the Airstrike.cfg file in the Data/cfg folder and reduce the value of line that says...

Maximum Aircraft Range=2000

I set mine to 1000 and i'm still seeing aircraft but only when i am closer to shore/aircraft carriers.

Also, have a look at the read-me, there are ways at toning down the AI as well, I am speaking about escorts, etc.

Stay submerged all day when in the aircraft vicinity of Japan. Saves a lot of aircraft encounters.

If you free cam just below the clouds or so and look down ontop of your sub about 120' down you'll see it. I think planes in TMO simulate seasoned - elite Tojo pilots. As others have mentioned you can manually tone that down. Or, learn to patrol presuming their presence the hard way. There is a pull-down showing the air coverage that may help. Be ready to dive to at least 160', I have found at most times crash dive is not nessesary but untill your comfortable with the boat controls it's there.

There's also a mod by Webster that tones down the air patrol aspect. I can't quite remember the name but it's something like "Webster's Better Air Patrols". I'm using it with TMO w/o any problems.

Cheers everyone....I have toned down the dd's a tad and also decreased the range of the pesky aircraft...I know I know, not realistic but it will help me starting out

Now if someone could point me in the right direction for some bigger dials chub would be a happy boy. Playing on 46" LCD at 1920 x 1080 and I cant see the buggers when trying to set course. Fed up of the better half laughing at me as I strain forward from the sofa
