Default Updates for Steam users?

Will my game get updated automatically via Steam if I bought my game through them?? or do I have to D/L the update from some site somewhere and apply it?? Thanks

CAn Steam users add mods and such to our game?? or only thosde who used the DVD to load the game?

you can use mods with the steam version. you might want to shut off the automatic updates, though. i think an update will overwrite any file where a checksum doesn't match. i think.

Right, and it's not just a new patch release that will cause problems with auto updates turned on. I think Steam might run a periodic maintenance check to make sure files aren't corrupted. If a mod messes with the core game files enough, Steam will think it's corrupted and re-download the current version even if a new patch isn't out yet. So just turn off auto updates for that one game. When you know a new patch is out, remove the mods and turn auto update back on temporarily, just until you get that new patch. At least I think that's how it works.

Im not sure that is the case...I have installed mods on a steam game before with no problems.
