Default [REL] No Ship Wakes 1.1

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1719

No Ship Wakes 1.2 (JSGME ready)
update: this mod is 100% compatible with patch 1.2

Changes:

-1.2 removes wake on the Queen Mary

-1.1 Fixes one ship still showing wakes

This mod is for immersionists that don't like seeing ship wakes through waves via the scope or UZO.

For those that do not use the external cam you will benefit greatly by not seeing the wakes through your scopes or UZO

The only work around is to remove the wakes completely, maybe in future patches or mods this can be done better.

Wakes are removed for the stock ships only (59 ships).

Wakes still remain for submarines AI and HUMAN controlled.

You will not see the wake through waves in the scope or in external cam.

Permission granted to use this mod in future mods as long as credit is shown.

Any problems noticed please report the ship name and I will release another version.

FYI this will conflict only with mods that edit the ships .val file.

Regards,
ddrgn

oops wrong forum ;P I will blame this on the fact that the SH5 Mods Workshop ios incredibly difficult to find and is so annoying that it doesn't appear under subforums where it should so rightly be.

A mod will move it I'm sure. I guess Neal felt that enough was happening with SH5 Mods that he gave it it's own forum.
Much like what happened with 3 & 4. Nice work by the way.

Thanks ddrgn. Is there any chance of some before and after screenshots?

First the "No Reflections" mod... then a "No wakes" mod.

What next? A "No Ships" mod?

LOL. j/k

If anything I made the mod for myself. I was about to give up to be honest, seeing wakes and waves they way they were stock was a huge hit to my immersive experience. I couldn't make any MP maps with high swells, it just looked that bad, seeing 60 some odd ships wakes through waves, was terrible.

If your a fan of the external cam and taking pics this mod may not be for you.

General, sorry no pics. Just imagine the ship wake, now imagine it gone.

I was just pokin' fun. I know why you did it.

I too can see the ship's reflections and wakes when i shouldn't. But ever since i started using the Funnel Smoke mod... i see the funnel smoke before i see the ship so it's not that big of a deal anymore. Unless ofcourse its foggy, then you can still see their reflections and guess where they are.

I know this has been done for another mod but l don't know if it is possible here.

Can the mod be set up so it is disabled upon using external view?

That should keep both sides happy.

I can not do that, its either on or off. Perhaps some one else can figure this out. I talked to one of the devs regarding this and he told me it was hard coded and could not be fixed/removed without a patch.

As you can see I removed it, so more is possible I am sure.

I don't expect everyone to use this mod, but can say once you start playing with it you forget the wakes were ever there.

Mind you I am no graphics expert, perhaps someone who knows .dds files can look into all the "foam" files. I tried removing them one by one and all at once to just remove the "Ghost Wake" with no luck.

Eye candy junkies will obviously not be happy with the end result with this mod (I being one of them) but when you don't use the external cam, which I hardly do any more you won't notice or miss them.

Great mod, I was just thinking last night how annoying the wake problem is. Hopefully the devs will find time to address at some point this as it really is quite a bad bug and an immersion/realism killer.

Good to hear. Of course I can't look at it yet, but any mod that improves the game is welcome.
