Default Menu_1024 editor/tools?

Hi chaps,

I´m working a lot to release the first basic complete GUI for WideScreen mod and some modifications on menu_1024 is needed.

IIRC I recall to read here about some tools to work with menu_1024 (like auto renumber entries, etc) but after use the search didn´t found any available link.

Someone have a valid link for any menu_1024 tool?

Thanks in any advice.

Being a starting modder myself, I think your program might be useful for me too. Thanks h.sie.

Hi Rubini,
I use excel for my editing.
You can add your own programs to renumber and lots of other things.

For me it works well and saved lots of time. Hope it works for you as well. You find a "Repair"-Button on the program. I don't remember exactly what it is for, so better don't use it. Was not intended to be published and I forgot to hide the button.

As you already know the menu_1024 file is a mess, with groups of menuitems all over the place.

Using Excel and its powerful tools enables easy navigation and editing. Also because each command has a space between, this can be used as a delimiter and so places each segment in a different cell. The cells can be coloured to indicate menuitem and its subfiles, making it easy to edit them all, even if they appear in totally different places in menu_1024. You can move segments and renumber all or part of the menu_1024 with your own simple program addition.

Hi h.sie
If you have "excel" or open office "calc" then try it out.

Open menu_1024 in notebook and press edit, select all. Copy and paste to the first cell in excel or calc. You can automate this procedure but it will show you the layout.

Because the segments have a uniform layout you can look for the parent items in each segment and thus colour them using your own program and also look for dials, buttons main menu's etc.
