Finally!!
I'm in the mediterranian north of Tobruk. I kept getting aircraft spotted calls every few hours, but i just kept ignoring them. Until now i've never ever been attacked by an airplane yet. Well... after numerous sightings a pair of them attacked me. Kinda surprised me. Luckily their bombs missed. Some time later 2 more attacked me. On their bombing run, I hit one but he kept going. Hours later another one attacks me. Damaged em but he kept going. As im firing my last volley at him.. i get splashes all around me.. DD's showed up. AYEEE! I Submerged and slipped away. Following day 2 more aircraft take a crack at me.. I damage one, and a short time later i see em crash off in the distance. Wooo! 1 credit on an Anson Patrol Bomber. Guess im going to have to start paying attention to "Aircraft Spotted" now. |

I finally saw a Fairley Swordfish (without a torpedo) fly by my uboat off the coast of southern part of Ireland.

Good kill, All ive seen is Hurricanes around the England and then these would not have been used in 1939 1940 for anti shipping and uboat patrols at this point in the war.

In 39 Coastal Command had Ansons, Swordfish, a handful of Sunderlands and few other pre war cast offs.
But Hurricanes were state of the art Fighters and were far to valuable for maritime patrol duties. By 1940 Coastal command upgraded most of its Ansons to the infinatly more capable Lockheed Hudson From 40 - 1942 they received more US aircraft like Hudsons & Venturas and any old cast offs that Bomber Harris who give them (Whitleys & Wellingtons) Still no Hurricanes.... The Air Fleet Arm had Hurricanes, but they sank no where near as many Uboats as Coastal Command did. So I have no problem with the Hurricanes not attacking.
