Default Preferring TI's over the newer ones, anyone else?

//old coot//
Pff all these young people with there fancy electric nonsense or 'patern running' sheisse, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
//old coot//

Seriously, I like gas powered TI's more then the electric ones:

1. TI's are >FAST<, the enemy has practically no change of evading
unless you are stupid enough to take on a DD.
2. And at night the enemy is toasted because they can't see the
trails.
3. They are reliable, TI's almost never fail me unlike the TII's with
there premature detonations.
4. TI's are much better for manual 'pop shots' (storms) because of
there speed.
5. The trails are very usefull to see if you TDC'ed right and perhaps
need to adjust and shoot again quickly
6. Trails look nice.
7. Trails are cool.

More TI Fanboys here?

pop over here for Avon lady's excellent "damn the type II torpedos" mod..

http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=42157

i have to say i agree mainly because it's frustrating to get within 2000 metres and still have to shoot the torps at slow speed settings....the type I's give you more options from ultra long range v slow spreads to quick short range hit and runs..much more immersive regardless of anything else!!

In my VIIB, I use T1's in the front and T2's in the rear. Has worked
very well during 1939 and 1940. I won't speculate on the future
because I have not experienced it yet. But if drastic changes are
required, I will evaluate my loadout at that time.....

I keep one T2 loaded in tube 4 for destroyer head-ons... they see the trail of T1s and evade. Otherwise I agree that T1s are cool, and I like the trails too... especially the thought that the enemy see their doom coming :>

T3s are almost the only thing i use. No trail and 5km distance.

All the new ones i could never figure out, they always end up missing or coming back to hit me.

That extra 14 kts makes all the difference. TI's are the only thing I ever use! That said, I haven't tried the later torpedoes yet...
