[WIP] Operation Optimization

[Work in Progress] Operation Optimization v1.0

Many people here are having major performance problems playing SH5, even with all graphic settings turned down. Whether it be due to older hardware, or whatever, I am currently working on a mod to address this. What this mod will do is remove much of the eye candy from SH5 (perish the thought!), but at the same time (hopefully) greatly increase frame rates to make the game run smoother. I know everyone loves eye candy, but it doesn't really do much good if the game runs like a slideshow.

Thanks Drifter, I think the main issues many of us with graphic problems are having concerns:

Explosions
Muzzle flashes
Smoke from explosions
Prop splash
any water splashes from either ship hit, and resultant effect on the water, and also if your strafed by a plane, the water spouts.

These seem to be happening due to the dual core nature of the game, with those of us who are running the game on high speed single core rigs. My cpu is 2.81 amd fx 57 and running geforce 8800 ultra with 768 vram, all the eyecandy plays smooth as silk even with it ramped it to HIGH on everything, its simply the above effects not being able to find the second core, and having the single core process the graphics, if that could be solved, it would make the game wonderful, many of us just cannot afford in this recession ot spend 1500 plus to build a new rig, it must be done inevitably I think we all know, but right now, money being tight, is not the time. Thanks for your help!

Wonder if ubisoft will come out with a patch for single core users? I thought they had done so for another game.

wrong thread title!...leads to the conclusion you are optimizing the operations...not the game engine and game flow.

anyway. good effort...

Wel let me tell you this i have a new rig and still got problems so the optimalization is great idea.

I got no graphic problems as i have pretty new card its the RAM that is killing me 92-96....FFS.

Could you found out why it eats same ammount of RAM in missions and in campaing and what is cousing it?

There is no way that missions should use same ammount of computer resources as campaign.

Interesting enough my CPU usage is under 30%ˇits the RAM usage i got problem with.

(my backround services are optimalized couse i know what im doing)

Default Freeze Frame

the game ie the ocean and sub run fine. It's the muzzle flash, expolsions, anf the shell splash's alog with gun fire that looks like frozzen tracer rounds. So best of luck with this endevor. I don't Ubi doing anything to address the single core users as they should have with at least an option for low level effects.

Drifter
I noticed my system got better FPS inside the sub with Capthelms Lighting Effects mod for sh5 (not too much but I noticed some improvement)

Maybe the lightnig thing is so heavy relatet to perfomance?
Also, I didn´t noticed this improvement when "rigging for red". Don´t know if the mod alters anything for this case.

best regards

I have the same card and same lag inside the boat..

However, after some optimization on my end, I've fixed most of it, but willing to try somethings to improve it more.
