Default How To Move Up the Ladder?

-I am enjoying playing SH5 on my high-end computer, but find it hard to consistently move up (or down) the ladder to the periscope station and then to the conning tower.
-What's the trick? Moving to the ladder, looking up, and pushing "W" only sometimes works for me (and I do make sure the hatch is open).
Thanks,

Try to approach it from directly in front, e.g. nor from the side at an angle and also don't look up, look straight ahead. That should work. If not, just back up, square up and look straight and try again.

EDIT: Oh and welcome aboard!

Yeah you can't look up and climb up. It kills me since this is the most natural.

Silent Hunter 3/4 were more like games , this new Silent Hunter 5 have a more realistic/simulator approach features and fewer game features , I really LOVE SH5 , now is time to delete Silent Hunter 4 , I will keep SH3+GWX Gold

That makes no sense, unless something was a typo.
