Default UK Limited Edition "Official guide"

Just received my "Limited edition" SH5 from Amazon UK including the official guide which turned out to be a very nice full colour hardback notepad size recognition book, unfortunatey they have chose have the illustrations of the ships in a portrail orientation spread across the two pages, result where ships have funnels/features amidships the funnels/features are not visable due to the spine of the book, another silly decision.

I just received mine too.
It's actually quite a nice CE and the box is good quality.
Unfortunately I am off work today and I have promised to take my 3year old son on a trip on the trains as he is thomas the tank engine on the brain.
So SH5 will have to wait until later.

Hi guys,

Mine has literally just arrived. Collector's edition from Amazon UK.

The hardback book is a nice touch, shame I can't play it now. I have to leave in about 30-minutes as I'm away for the weekend...

Oh well, Monday will come around soon enough!

Interesting to hear what's actually included - thanks! The recognition manual sounds good, in spite of the book spine problems.

It makes the waiting a little easier. Amazon only posted my copy late on Fri 5th, despite my pre-order being made some weeks back. Pretty disappointing really - might write them a note! Not like their normal excellent service.

Maybe I can borrow Phoenix's copy for the weekend?

Depends on where you get it. There is a bonus DVD, but this is a Documentary in some places and the game's music score from others (that's what I got).
This is the Collector's Edition I got in Australia:

Herodotus: Was the official guide a Hardcover recognition manual, as per what the Brits got?

Yes, same image on Amazon UK, so it should be the same as in Australia.

I find all the CE variants a bit confusing and unnecessary, though!

Default Will UK Collector's Ed work in US

I'm going to order a copy of SH5. I'd like to get the collector's edition, but it appears to only be available in the UK. Could someone tell me if it is region locked, or would I be able to run it on my US machine?

Thanks

@ Seamanstaines

LOL nice name..... reminds me of the Captain Pugwash Myths

Quote:
Roger The Cabin Boy

Not a request or order!

Fun and inventive it may have been, the Cabin Boys Name was Tom, he was the most heroic member of the crew, yet rarely was he allowed to take the credit for being the hero of the hour.
Master Bates

Not actually the name of the Black Pig's Master, though of all the characters his real name was close and could easily be twisted from the actual Master Mate.

Seaman Staines

Again another smutty suggested name, though no one would actually be able to tell you which of the 2 remaining crew members this referred to, so I'm guessing this was Willy, mainly due to his shirt pattern!

No, it is a hardcover book (I think the image shows an early rendering).
The game manual is of course soft cover, and is not shown in the picture (nor is the metal case it all comes in).
I was disappointed with the map, though as it is not as clear nor well presented as the map that came with the "SH4: CE".

I think US/Canada is the only country where this is so, probably due to the fact that SH4 sold so poorly (50 k units) there. Interesting that almost twice as many Americans bought a U-boat sim than a game about their own boats.

Default Sample?

Could someone scan a page from the book to let those of who don't have the CE see what we are missing? UBI might have sold me a CE IF they had bothered to post a sample of the content, but no, that would never occur to them I guess.
