They have been there and done that.

I would venture to guess that Dan alone knows more about U-Boats than most of the people on this site put together.

I will buy Silent Hunter 5 even if considered a bit average because I really want companies like UBI to keep producing great sims. If they are a bit buggy I'm sure the talented modders can fix it.

On the topic of an add on for SH5, I think in this day and age were the almighty dollar rules, I think PC games have to be released with basic content as developers can no longer delay games ( Falcon 4) and remain financially viable. They have to get the product out there and then add to it in "Rise of Flight" fashion. It makes financial sense and let's face it UBISOFT doesn't make subsims because of a deep held fanatical interest in submarines.

At the end of the day as good as GWX3 is, I can no longer get it running on Windows 7 (yes, I have tried everything in posts to date). The same thing will happen to SH4 eventually which is why we need UBI to make these games.

Btw (OT real quick) did you try making a small partition on your Win7 and install XP and GWX on it. That way if you can still play GWX via XP. Unless there's some kind of bug with the dual booting, I never tried it.

i'm considering, but I would have to re-partition hard drive and I have heard others talk about dual OS and I don't think I want to go there.

Game until 1943 then an add-on ?
Nope, mods!

Seriously, im pretty sure they are going to release addons/DLCs. It is what most biggest console companies do and now Ubi does... I even smell 2 addons: 1939-41 and 1943-1945. Each one will otain 1-2 new subs, several ships and campain. Modders make a lot of more and they get nothing...

There are various campaigns in the game, no one like in SH3,

i think that they will release some DLC packs with more subs and campaigns

To do this, you'd need a campaign past '43... which might prove finicky to script, given the completly new campaign engine
"Dan: In the game, the way the game will be launched, there won't be any way to be able to continue the campaign past 1943, but there is nothing stopping the modders from keep adding more content, which comes afterwards. There's no hardcore limit for how far you can play in the world, it's just how far OUR campaign goes."

That add on gave us a completely different service in the same ocean. Hopefully we don't get Fleet Boats in the Atlantic in '41 as our first add-on (if we indeed get add-ons). I'd like to finish the war as one side first!
