I think that the 10 dots are good patrols at Mediterranean campaign.

It is simple.

4 good patrols at Gibraltar.
3 good patrols at Malta.
3 good patrols at Egypt.

Result - 10 good patrols at the operational zone.

I think that the mediterranean campaign always will be comprised of 10 patrols. The only difference is the order that you perform these missions. When you complete this ten missions, you will shift to another campaign zone, but always adjusting you to the dates. If i play mediterranean campaign, i will always finish at September 42. Then the game (i hope for) will bring me the option to resume the Atlantic campaign.

But i think i will not be able to perform one patrol at the mediterranean sea and then again go to the Atlantic (or trying to pass Gibraltar).

Again i´m only speculating, but if it is true, then it is worst than ever.

After looking closely to all pictures, I think I got what's wrong : there is no HDR and "light", not even a little bit of it. That's why all looks flat. Totaly flat.

The game is supposed to be released in a month and a half from now, that would be hummm still one month of dev on it before gold. I really wonder if they are going to add the little things that will make the game look graphically perfect.

There is a perfect example of lights that look great in a game, it's Wings of Prey, on PC. There's a demo somewhere out.

Terrain has depth thx to some lightning and sometimes shadows (they missed some unfortunately)
Clouds have shadows on ground.



Planes are not "flat". Yeah they may shine a bit too much, still, in game, it looks terrific and every plane really has "volume".




A very good "water on metal" effect (metal + environment reflection)



Perfect volumetric light scattering shader (the best seen on all games, frankly) :

i really like the mission-driven dynamic campaign, gives the game/sim(?) a reason.
but i wonder about replayability.
sh3 campaign (stock) was totally unrealistic, patrol 24h
and then do what you want forever.
no bdu in the world would give you that freedom.

+1 ...it took ages to explain to community - that SH3 graphics is oudated in 2009. But these shadows are just fine...

Just watching National Geographic documentary - on carnage that u-boats made on Canadian ships - at St.Lawrence river mouth... from May 42.
Narrow bay, shallow water with mixing of river and ocean water layers - making sonars blind, it was heaven for u-boats hunting.
They would just take positions and fire torp by torp... what a carnage and horor...

I must be the only subsimmer who really could not care less about water rendering or shadows.

You know, the AA and Dynamic Shadows don't really bother me (heck, I didn't even know some were sans AA until someone pointed it out, LOL), however, after looking at the U-boat wakes, I think it may be appropriate to link this thread for consideration by modders...
