Default Bilge rat ponderings

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking in the bilges for some time now and was wondering about a few things :

1 Is there a mod to allow you to put the ship sunk icons in manually when playing with no map contacts ?

2 Is there a mod to put a sea state / visibility indicator on the map screen or to have your watch officer alert you in the message log when the weather changes ?

3 There are a number of voice files in the game which are never heard. Is there a mod to enable them ?

4 Would it possible to mod to have your sub leave a permanent trail on the map screen during each patrol, maybe with a mark to indicate the end of each day ?

5 Has anybody made a single list of possible self imposed realism measures, such as not schnorkelling faster than 6knts, not reloading torpedoes on the surface in rough weather, maximum patrol endurance in days for each boat type etc. Many many others ?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry to bring the bad news, but the answer to the first four questions is: No. All these aspects are hardcoded and cannot be modded or activated. Some - like the missing voices - hint to planned features that did not make it into the final game. Re question 5, I've seen no such single list so far, only individual bits of info.

G7eT2,
So you first posted about 4 days out now, and you have asked some really nice questions. , (good ideas!) You received some word that they are so good that they are not possible due to simulator coding, etc., and yet not 1 "welcome aboard", or even a fair, "hello"...

Allow me to pipe you aboard... "Bosun to the foredeck, sscccceeeeee-oooooo... (I'd insert my boatswain's whistle sound file here if I knew how!) This graphic will do. , just make your own sound for yourself there...

Welcome aboard! And, Good hunting!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

However I am not entirely certain if this boatswain's whistle is strictly regulation. Maybe a new one is in order before Uncle Karl's next inspection.

Freakwave - of course I only play in real time.
Let us see it was released in March 2005 so I am now up to July 1944. None of this wimpy single real time patrol stuff for me !

dcb - With that address I will assume you are a developer and say a massive thank you for the Silent Hunter series, fantastic, addictive stuff.
