Security/copy protection etc

I've not seen any threads about this, so if there are then my apologies.

Any news on their anti-piracy strategy? If they try putting StarFarce or some other such crap in it that will DEFINITELY make it a non-starter for me....

Anyone want to kick this ball around?

(ducks for cover)

There was a different one used in SH4.

I can't see why they would use SH-3,s protection.

So ya, duck before you get kicked in the nuts.

Were you present for SHIII and the issues some had with its protection?

That aside, I have a brand new rig set up with what I want on it. I am not about to introduce software about which I'm given no info, by which I mean nothing about how it works and what it changes.

I can live with online activation, but no way will I accept a security programme on the disc.

Sir, just when one was begining to think that you take to shoving things in and out. A least you are a fair and open man to the cause, however painful and distressing this improper task may be. lmao with good intent of course.

All of the game boxes are these "push to get cd out". Well i pushed to get my Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cd out. I made a little crack when doing that and it exploded inside my CD/DVD drive.

It was this little thing call starforce copy protections. It basicly thought you were a pirate that copy yhe software even though you had the right code validating iot was a legit peace of software. It took about 20 go,s or more to get into the game. I remember i had to keep the game running or otherwise i could get in for days. It took a mail to starforce to deactivate the copy protection provided you gave them the orginal code.

Ubi officially ended their agreement with Starforce back in 2006, so I think you're relatively safe: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6147655.html

For now at least. Who knows if Ubi will use another.

The best game protection they can have is to have a great game so everyone buys it .

thats true. Eventually every game will be cracked and illegally downloaded. people are more likely to DL software that's in their opinion not good enough to pay for, while they still buy software they like, as a sort of reward to the devs.

(ah how i love subsims policy on this subject - took me 20 minutes to write this down in a way that ensures i wont get banned)
